Mirror's Edge is first game in trilogy

EA DICE senior producer Owen O’Brien has told AusGamers that the slick 'n' sexy Mirror's Edge is actually the first game in a trilogy.

"The story we're telling at the moment is kind of a trilogy, a three-story arc," O'Brien commented. "For these first couple games, it's all about Faith. It's all about her experience in the world."

"I think there's a lot of scope to take the story in different directions, or maybe tell someone else's story," he speculated. "I think the world we've created, the city and the culture and the environment, is almost as interesting or more interesting than any one individual story."

O'Brien also revealed that a level editor was "something we're probably going to [think about] for the sequel."

"The thing is, the game is so easy to play and intuitive, that creating a level editor is a skill in itself," he explained. "If we do it, we want to make the editor as easy to use and intuitive as the game is."

EA DICE is best known for the Battlefield series, the latest of which hit PlayStation 3 in June. Mirror's Edge is a bit of a departure for the developer, being more about fleeing from men with guns than joining their ranks.

As the acrobatic, porcelain-cheekboned Faith, your job is to deliver packages to a resistance organization by running the gauntlet over glittering futuristic rooftops, sliding under pipes, wall-running over gaps and high-kicking totalitarian goons.

Mirror's Edge somersaults onto PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11 in North America and November 14 in Europe.

I still can't see this FPplataform working... I rather wait for a demo, a few reviews and then decide if it's really worthy or not. So far I couldn't understand how come a person who jumps between buildings hurts its own ankle by jumping from a 10 fett plataform...

They should take a Saints Row 2 approach to this, see if anyone likes it first, watch the sales, then decide on a sequel or sequels.

Isn't saying that they will be making two more of these a little pre-emptive? I mean this game looks pretty cool and I love the concept, but saying they are gonna make two more is about as smart an action as if the Red Sox were to start packing their bags to head for the World Series! mwahahahaha

The game does look good, I'll give it that - but to say that I'll pick it up with Call Of Duty: World at War on the same launch day is pushing it a little too far. I own one of EA DICE's games; Bad Company and it's good, just not that good. I'll be waiting for reviews first.

I keep hearing people say they are going to buy other games and not this one. I cant wait for this game to come out and show to them what this game is going to offer, I feel like alot of "360" users have been talking bad about this game to. I would like to hear some people explain why they are excited about this game because to me this is going to be something new, fun, and look amazing. plus the female main character story mode is going to be a cool twist. buy anywho. bad or good, i like reading thoughts on future titles.
