Missing PS3 Titles Part 2 – Data-Fly and The Getaway
Welcome to part three of our daily Missing PS3 Titles series. In this third instalment, we examine Coded Arms: Assault and DarkWatch 2, two games that have maintained a high degree of interest among PS3 fans and yet, concurrently, have remained all but non-existant in the public eye for some time now.
DarkWatch 2:

Technically, DarkWatch 2 has actually yet to be officially announced, however there is plenty of evidence to suggest it's in development. Presumably developed by the original makers, High Moon Studios, DarkWatch 2 will probably continue the story of vampire gunslinger, Jericho Cross.
Since the game has really yet to be announced, details are scarce, however in 2006 at the Game Developers Conference in San Fransisco, designers Brent Disbrow and Matt Tieger showed off a new tech demo running on the PlayStation 3 showcasing what looks to be early footage of DarkWatch workings...
Watch the tech demo below:
In response to the video, one of the game developers from High Moon Studios stated that the demo was about horror movies in games, and nothing more. The comment was posted on the official High Moon Studio forum, under his online alias Krazikatt.
"Unfortunately I can't comment on whether we are or are not making a DW2. Sorry," he wrote.
Where is the title now?
Now this is completely speculation, but Kotaku (via Surfer Girl) posted a rumor in October 2007 stating that High Moon Studios were developing DarkWatch 2 for Xbox 360 and PS3. Take it for what it is, but since High Moon's current project, Bourne Conspiracy, is set to release here in June, we expect them to announce something soon on their currently "unannounced game for consoles."
Coded Arms: Assault:

Developed by Konami, Coded Arms: Assault was a PlayStation 3 sequel to 2005's Coded Arms on the PSP. The game was first announced at E3 2006 revealing the game's storyline, weapons, destructible environments, and 16 player online matches.
Then in 2006 at Tokyo Game Show, Coded Arms: Assault was playable, showing off a L.A. inspired level where players needed to make their way through cyber-terrorists to a near by building. First impressions of the title were mixed, as the game was still early in production.
Watch trailer below:
However, after the Tokyo Game Show, the game simply disappeared. It has been nearly two years without a word from Konami. In early 2007 it was rumored that the game had been canceled, but with no official word from Konami and release dates still remaining on their official website, people assumed that it may be still in production.
Where is the title now?
Canceled. We contacted Konami earlier this week to get an official comment on the current status of Coded Arms: Assault. One of their representatives responded stating that for now, Konami is no longer working on the PlayStation 3 version of Coded Arms.
"There are no current plans to bring Coded Arms: Assault to the PS3 at this time," remarked a Konami representative.
Tough luck to all the fans hoping the game was still alive.
Stay tuned for part four of our series soon.

really though... it's not really Sony's fault that these games aren't going to be coming out is it? Isn't it the publishers and developers' faults?

There was never an official cancelation announcment on coded arms, that's why people were confused. how cane anyone say they knew for certain when even konami wouldnt say it aloud until now.
It sucks though a lot of people were looking forward to it, the style and design shown in the trailer was enough to make people want to pick up a PS3 just for that, hopefully they'll reconcider after MGS4 gets released.

@Stovich, hopfully I can shed a little light on some of these games for you.
Avalon:
Was a demo produced to show off Climax's next gen engines I believe. I'm not sure it was ever in full production, I know that they've taken quite the financial hit recently being as the middleware market is currently being sewn up by the Unreal engine.
Cipher Complex:
Is supposedly in development by Edge of Reality right? I thought they'd only released concept art and "target renders". I doubt it'll get backing from a publisher anytime soon. The industry is twitchy at the moment over new IPs and these guys to be fair haven't got a glittering back catalogue to go on, mainly licenses, movie tie ins that sort of thing. It'd probaly be a poor mans Splinter Cell any way.
Empire:
Sorry I don't know anything about this game. Never heard of it. Any clues? I might be able to chance some info down.
Fifth Phantom Saga
I'm not too sure but I think Sega canned this game due to "underwhelming" performances. In short the graphics were crud. I might be wrong and it might still be in development but from what I've seen of the game via the movies Sega released it looked very poor graphically and wouldn't stack up to any of the stuff currently being released.
Project Delta:
THis was a game developed by a Dutch team Playlogic isn't it? Originally planned as an Wbox 360 game but snapped up exclusively by SCEE? Supposedy set you as a human defender against an alien invader. I only ever heard the briefest of info on this one and I once saw a few concept sketches of a futuristic tank I think. Beyond that I know nothing. I don't think its on their release list for 2008 any way.
Redwood Falls:
I remember seeiing the demo of the game engine but have heard stuff all since. Developed by Kuju I believe. I think it may have been just a tech demo and that the game might emerge at a later date with possibly a different name.
Schwarzenberg:
Sorry pal never heard of it.
Secret Service:
See above lol.
ShadowClan(Ninja Gold):
Erm wasn't this meant to be a John Woo film or something? I know Warren Spector of Deus Ex fame was involved but I didn't realise it was meant to be a game. I wish Warren would do another Thief game.
The Outsider:
David Brabens new baby yes? Very much still in development as I've heard good things about it. Supposedly doing very clever things with AI and is slated for a 2009 release I believe.
TimeO:
I have heard not very much about this game. Something about a new game engine for next gen consoles. I've seen no images of this game and have no idea who is developing it.
Thing is my friend if a developer doesn't want to let you know about there games there is absolutely stuff all a journalist can do. Most of these games have gone covert because the developers want to work on them in isolation and develop their tech far away from prying eyes. Understandable in an industry where novel concepts and ideas are stolen on a daily basis.

You know, when I heard of CA was coming to a standard console, I was really excited. I really dug the concept of the first 2 games for psp but as all FPS's on the psp, its controls are a bit convaluted. So to hear it's cancelled makes me pretty sad. I would of picked it up in a heart beat.

Dirty Harry, 6GUN, Earth No More, Elveon, Endless Saga, Fear & Respect, Heat, Infamous, Incarnate, L.A. Noire, METRO 2033: The Last Refuge, Project Force, Recoil Retrograd, Rogue Warrior, The Scourge Project, The Chronicles of (Banned word R_i_d_d_i_c_k)on Dark Athena, DC Comics MMO, White Knight Story, Hydrophobia ,The Precursors, Underwater Wars, Voodoo Nights, War World, Warhound & White Gold. Sorry I have so many. But after seeing the list of Missing PS3 titles I had to add ones that I was wondering about.
Also this is a cool article and that for finding out if Coded Arms was caned or not. Its to bad it is because I liked the PSP versions.
Sorry I had to use some banned words I would not be able to say what I was going to with out saying what I said. So I hope that is ok. Also you do a great job on PSU so keep it up and I look forward to more of your posts.
