[UPDATE] Modern Warfare 2 getting patched for PS3

Update: The Modern Warfare 2 user complaints have not gone unnoticed. According to Robert Bowling's Twitter update, Trophy unlocks are now available. He wrote, “PS3 Status: Patch successful. Trophy Unlocks on PS3 now available in Single Player & Spec Ops. Adding more servers to meet MP demands.”

He also gave an explanation for the problems some are facing with online play on the PlayStation 3. “The amount of players on MW2 PSN overwhelmed the PSN presence server which updates ‘what you’re doing’ and is essential to parties.”

Twitter updates can be quite cryptic, but it sounds like this patch may at least help with Trophy support. We’ll keep you posted on how the new servers are going.

Original Article: The launch of Modern Warfare 2 on the PlayStation 3 has not been without a few hiccups. Several users have reported some problems, including party invite issues. To remedy this problem, Infinity Ward will release a patch this Friday to correct the problems.

You can also expect the patch to update Trophies, but we don’t have more details on this issue.

    yeah im havin trophy issues. like i complete the mission but no trophy and i cant invite anyone to party :(

    having the same problem, only been given one trophy so far. invites don't work for me either, what a game though

    Well, that's pretty promising.  It looks like they're willing to support the PS3 version.

     i got an update as soon as i put it in. no trouble yet... been getting trophies left and right, but havnt gotten to multiplayer... will very soon though

    yea i think the reason for all the advertising this game more for the 360 is b/c the 360 doesn't have anygood exclusives coming out for awile, so they are trying to advertise this game as if it is a 360 exclusive,lol...I think that this is just some really G** A** S***,lol

    but don't get me wrong this game looks awesome..but i think it looks better on the PS3, not 360,lol

    thats odd, no problems here, but my HDMI was acting up and i thought my ps3 had burned out the HD component... ON THE DAY MW 2 CAME OUT!!! luckely it fixed itself :D

     

    oh BTW. I AM LOVING Modern Warfare 2!!

    i finsihed the game on hardened and NO trophies wtf!

     my only problem is that it is too much like 4...  2 to 4 was a huge difference. 4 to 2... not so much.

    The game is worth getting actually. Playing through the campaign is very fun so you have something to keep you entertained until that patched is released.. Okay, the campaign is short, but you can play the game more then once and not get bored. Plenty of action in there to keep you satisfied.

    i played the first 2 levels and didnt get no trophies but that didnt matter so i started over to start collecting the intel and i started to get trophies i played it for a few hours and shut it off for a break started it back up and now im not getting any trophies again wtf

    yeah I have both problems, no trophy list and cant invite friends. other than that Im enjoying it the more I play it, never played MW online so the speed is crazy but fun. just got my first "last kill", threw a flashbang into the house ran in, shot 1 gut and knifed the other!

     i started playing around 5 PM pacific time and i had to patch it, i was like "wth! it just came out today and there is an update?"

    I'm having Trophy and Invite issues. Me and gruddy were trying last night to connect to no avail. Nice one for IW to patch it so quickly though.

    I had trouble with trophy issues. Now it finally worked.. i had to play the whole game all over again.. =_=

    @11 Going down the path of the insane fanboy, huh? ;) Or, do you have proof that the PS3 version looks better? Would be nice knowledge to have, against the XBUTTS ;)

    the trophies work already guys...i got problems with it yesterday morning but i play lastnight and i got trophies...and the i got the same problem with the party invites..i only could reunite with 1 guy on my list!!

    yup, a few problems here too.

    The invites take forever to arrive from friends, I got one 30 mins AFTER a friend went offline. And most of the invites I do get always return an error such as: Game no longer valid.

    Looking forward to getting things patched.

    This is my first Call of Duty game and so far I'm not feeling it that much. However, I've only played for about an hour and a half, so I hope it lives up to the hype.

    havent played online yet so cant comment on the party issues, trophys work fine though for me.

     

    cant help feeling a little bit underwhelmed witht he game though :P

    COD 4.5 and they still can't get the online working correctly. Bonny Kotick thanks you for the $60 you just spent another a rehash with another very short single player game with an even more ridiculous online component.

    I've been having the invite issue as well and i didnt get the Ghost trophy after planting the C4 without any alerts or killing anyone which is strange because i got the trophies for finishing levels.

    Same with me,  im not getting most of the trophies despite completing them. Never the less, AWESOME game.

    yeha ... that problem was killing athe greatness of this game... badly.

    But at least they are working to fix the issue come friday. Then we shall really show what skills we have with this ... lol yeah ultra mega n00b!

    yes me, Trophys wont unlock and I cant join partys. It worked beautifully on the 9th day before release so I dont know whats goin on. Hope the patch does fix ALL these issues.

    trophy issues, invite issues, even sometimes multiplayer solo issues. co op spec ops issues. what is this, too bad i got banned on xbox live, because that was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better
