National Geographic to commit to Blu-ray early?

With the Warner Bros announcement in early January in regards to their switch to Blu-ray exclusively, we’ve watched each one of its entities slowly switch to the Blu-ray platform. All but two had made the switch before the June cut-off day, those two being National Geographic and the BBC. Now we’re finally down to one, potentially.

Today National Geographic released its list for upcoming titles and none appear on the HD DVD format. Instead, their one expected release, Sharkwater, was not found in the HD DVD category. The title is expected to release on 4/8 which is well before that June cutoff. This pretty much notifies the world that National Geographic has made the full switch to covering Blu-ray exclusively.

We’ll keep you posted on when BBC follows suit. After all it can’t be that far off.

With Planet Earth being the only disc that sold better on HD-DVD than Blu-Ray they might wait a while longer before switching to Blu-Ray exclusive.

the hd-dvd addon isnt obsolete since its out there lol its just it doesnt do much but to upconvert regular quality dvds. But its honestly pointless why microsoft released an add on and addons never work.
