Naughty Dog's Evan Wells on Uncharted, Home and more

Posted on January 15th, 2008 at 07:19 EDT

Naughty Dog Co-President Evan Wells has said that the company is extremely pleased with the critical and commercial reception to its PlayStation 3 title, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, also mentioning that the firm has begun drafting ideas for its next project.

Speaking during an interview with ‘That Video Game Blog, Wells touched on Uncharted’s Metacritic score of 89/100, commenting, “We are very pleased with the critical response that we have received. “

“Particularly that the scores have been so consistent. There really hasn’t been a single reviewer who hasn’t enjoyed the game and the vast majority of the scores have been 9’s or above.”

Regarding Naughty Dog’s pledge to deliver a sequel to the action/adventure title, Wells added, “We’ve also only just started brainstorming on ideas for our next project. Nothing has been solidified yet."

He also touched base with Sony’s upcoming online community service, PlayStation Home, stating that the company is looking into taking advantage of its many opportunities. Despite this, Wells also reiterated that there are currently no plans to offer any form of downloadable content for Uncharted.

"We aren’t planning any downloadable content for Uncharted, but we are planning to take advantage of whatever kind of integration into Home that’s possible”, said Wells.

Stay tuned for more news on Naughty Dog’s plans for Uncharted as they become available. For more information on the inaugural title in the series, pop over to our Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune review here.

Can't wait to see what they'll come up with.  The first game was just looked so amazing, what will the next one look like by the time it's complete??  I just hope we'll be able to play this by mid-next year and not too much later!  Also, make the game a little longer!

Though the storyline and the acting was something you'd expect from a low budget B-movie, the game itself was pretty good. It wasn't too taxing either.

@tadpole fighting the zombies at the end was a good touch, think about it all through the game you're shooting down henchmen (which gets a little repetative) and at the end you've got to fight 2 different enemies which makes a good change. If anything the zombies made the game more interesting.

I really enjoyed the voice-actoing and writing in this game. I thought it was quite funny. and the zombies were a really cool touch. I was rather surprised to see them in the game and fighting them in the dark was kinda spooky,

I fell in love with it the minute I played the demo. I still can't believe I wasn't interested in this game while I was reading about it in Playstation 3 magazines. Games like this does not come often.

psn id: gingo.... i've heard a lot of people complaining about the twist at the end but i thought it gave the game a new breath of life it was immense, hopefully there is a place in home like the jungle in uncharted that would b awesome

Drake's Fortune was awesome all around. The zombie/demon things took a lot of the realism out of the game for me, but, like the first "Pirates of the Carribean" that shares a similar 'twist', it's still a fun ride. Here's hoping for a sequel!
