New Details on FFXIII and Versus XIII

The latest Famitsu, which was translated by members of our forums, revealed quite a bit of new information surrounding Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII. The information is in regards to the character design process for Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII and the prince of Versus XIII.
Tetsuya Nomura, the character designer for both games stated in reference to Lightning that she is very strict to herself and others and can't stand others who whine. She also has muscular legs and is like a military soldier. Motomu Toriyama, the scenario writer for FFXIII originally wanted Lightning to be even more muscular and macho. Nomura disagreed and thought that people wouldn't be fond of her as the main character if she was designed that way which we would have to agree as those body building females aren't so aesthetically pleasing.
Versus XIII is different. The hero's clothes that we have seen will most likely be changed and contrary to what some people are expecting, he will not be similar to Cloud or Squall from the previous Final Fantasy games. Nomura did state that everyone's impression on him will greatly change once they hear him speak and that many people may not like him. His name will be related to weather like Lightning and Cloud, but considering that Nomura has gotten bored of that tradition it may possibly just be a surname.
Nomura has also stated he will reveal the characters name the next time he talks about Versus XIII.

I just hope the guy's name isn't Thunder. That name is reserved for giant muscle builders.

im guessing that the main character from versus will be like sasuke( or even shinn asuka from GSD). very arrogant at that at least
good that they didnt make the female character muscular, like women body builders. ewww
That motoru guy has no finess, muscular women are disgusting, i thought everyone knew that...maybe he has weird fantasies or fetishes about muscular women lol

Well wouldn't Thunder be the perfect name? After all both the ff are XIII so it wouldn't be too weird if they were named side to side. Or it could be Wind or Gravity(if that is a element) comparing them with his abilities with the floating swords.

I'm kinda upset, I don't like playing as a woman in role playing games. Final Fantasy 12 had such a boring fighting system, I have no idea what is fun about letting your character do all the fighting and just moving him around. And now this, I really hope Versus is good.

Possibly the only game to beat Crysis in the graphics category that ive seen lately.
Sure GT5 has great graphics, but they aren't exactly groundbreaking, just GTHD quite optimized. Crysis on the other hand had volumetric clouds, it perfected the Green of the vegitation (not FarCry green, but rather "walk in a forest" green) a nearly completely destructible enviroment, (grenade+Krean shack=MUWAHAH!) and plus, you could torture the wildlife (turtles, pigeons, and chickens, OH MY!)

Has anyone considered that the fact that the Versus character could have a girly voice? I mean, it said that once we hear him speak, our impression will change and some people may not like him. Our original impression is that he is like Cloud or Squall, who, imo are... whats the appropriate word... sick. Hearing him speak, is going to change that... but then again, maybe i'm just paranoid.
