Samsung: Blu-ray will last five yearsSince World of Warcraft took gamers by storm, it has now becoming a developing trend in the industry to at least consider producing an MMO. One company, Square-Enix however, is no stranger to the market after achieving success with Final Fantasy XI, which was a MMO that was featured on both the PC, and consoles.
Speaking of Final Fantasy XI, at a recent festival celebrating the game, Square Enix VP, Hiromichi Tanaka, revealed a bit of info regarding the latest Square-Enix MMO project.
“As you might already know, members from the current FFXI team are working on a next generation MMO, but it still hasn't been decided whether that's going to be a game in the FF series, a continuation, or a totally new game. We are working on it, but it hasn't been decided that far yet.”
So yes, it is confirmed that Square-Enix is creating another MMO, however, it still yet to be confirmed if this title will take place in the Final Fantasy universe, or will it be a new stand alone IP. We will keep you updated on the details.

Better NOT make it a Final Fantasy. It pissed me off that they made 11 into an MMO.
they can make it a FF but not a continuation...=D...just a mmo in ff's world ^^
I don't play online games....
i surely do hope that it's a stand alone IP. leave the final fantasy to single player RPG, FFXI just did not do it for me...
Futuristic. Action based. The ability to play solo if no party can be found.
Without those things it would be a tough sell for me. I don't care if it is called FF or not. XI was broken IMO.
needs to be better then ffxi, to much waiting to join a party and very time consuming to level up. :P hopefully they realize this and improve it. sorta what Staticneuron said :D
Hope don't include the new MMO as part of Fabulas Crystallis aka FFXIII compilation.
if it is a final fantasy they had better not give it another roman numeral !! final fantasy XI should of just been called final fantasy online and XII should of been XI
Meh, give me Final Fantasy XIII/versus XIII before you start working on this crap.
I think its going to be a new IP for sure, they will try to diversify their brand when it comes to MMO.
Personaly, I love FFXI online, but I dont have the time to play. also, the monthly fee isnt for me.....
