Here is a new look at Killzone 2 from the PlayStation Day event held in London earlier this week. The 2008 gameplay footage shows off not only flying aircrafts and Helgast tanks, but new weapons such as the revolver. Also notice the lifelike animations, beautiful indoor lighting, and particle effects. Stay tuned to PSU.com for more Killzone 2 information. Enjoy!

Killzone 2 at this stage looks almost like the CG trailer many years ago & the lighting effect , animations are nothing i'v ever seen befor in a vediogame
everything so far look exactly like what sony and Guerilla promised to do .. except the release date .... its realy shame that we need to wait for another year to play it

The Delay was needed why don't forget there's Resistance 2,Motorstorm 2,EA's sports, little big planet If killzone 2 came out in 2008 heck what would pick up Resistance 2 or Killzone 2 unlike xcrap fans they only have Gears of war 1.5 (wow better graphics and a new story amazing) and lame pc ports

This is like a darker, more graphically realistic COD. It looks like a one year improvement, sad it got held back.

I hate seeing gameplay video from people who really stink at playing FPS. (1) They end up not doing the game any justice (2) They show very little of the actual moves/weapons you can use and how to use them in the proper way. There were a few glitches in there I hope they are still working out, like a dead person instantly disappearing off the ground. A bad guy getting shot and instantly appearing on the ground dead instead of falling, etc.

Wow. The graphics are amazing. Seen a couple of glitches, but obviously they will be fixed come February 2009. I think the extra few months will pay off and this game will be immense. Definite buy for me. =-]

@ svtschmidt - "There were a few glitches in there I hope they are still working out, like a dead person instantly disappearing off the ground. A bad guy getting shot and instantly appearing on the ground dead instead of falling, etc."
Download a high-def version of the video from Gamersyde and look at the top of the screen. This is clearly marked as a pre-alpha build, so yes - they are still working on the finer points.
Even so, for a pre-alpha, this game looks astounding.

I'm actually glad that it was pushed back, that'll make 09's lineup even better, plus Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 won't impact eachothers sales (not everyone is going to but both at around the same time). It also leaves KZ2 to be polished longer an dgives Sony time to hype up the game so more. Pretty much it was a smart decision to delay the game on Sony's side.

looks absolutely amazing! good thing it's been pushed back to 2009, because the AI looks a bit moronic if you ask me.

By 09 hopefully the PS3 would have sold 20 million + consoles. If the user base increases I can see this game becoming as if not more successful than COD4.

this is nothing like HAZE or Call of Duty for you people comparing. Just because they are all first person shooters does not mean they need to be all classified as just that. Haze is a FPS with an interesting storyline, Call of Duty is a FPS with a modern era war game, and this is a FPS set in the future. They are all different. Give them all a chance.
However, since I am a heavy SOCOM fan, therefore love third person, they need to make more third person games!

really nice looking game. Im sad it got pushed back, but that way theyll fix the bugs that were appearant in the video, like the death animations of a guy getting shot and automatically reappering on the ground. but nonetheless its gonna be a kickbutt game

All I've got to say is this, any PS3 owner that likes shooters had better be picking up Killzone 2 because it's a must buy game.
And for anyone saying that Killzone 2 is just another shooter with ultra-realistic graphics, you're wrong because Killzone 2 will be one of the most Cinematic realistic shooters EVER. And the innovation in Killzone 2 with a First Person Cover System is just brillant. I wouldn't be surprised in Call of Duty 5 has a First Person Cover System... a system that Guerilla Games came up with. I really like the fact that in Killzone 2 there is virtually no HUD at all. The HUD in a game really takes away from the game and having no HUD just puts you more into the game to me.
If Killzone 2 has Multiplayer that is on par with Call of Duty 4, it will easily be the Halo 3/COD4 killer, because Killzone 2's graphics have already surpassed COD4's and have surpassed Halo 3's graphics since the beginning.

Nice vid! But the AI needs serious work. Near the end of the video when the guy took out his pistol, the helghast guy didn't even try to flank the person you're playing. He just sat there waiting to be killed.

I thought this looked awesome, where exactly in this video does someone magically appear on the ground after being shot? Do you people have bad eyes or something? The only criticism I have for the animations is how when the AI gets shot they just stand there and don't flinch or actually look like they're taking damage (a la Haze) and it can get frustrating if bullets seem to have no effect on the enemy, and you don't know if you're shooting tactics are working.

the graphics were top,but didnt they remove the lens effect. And the AI sucked i hope this was on easy. I also hope we get to see the animations from the old vid, this one looked awkward 2:55-3:00 and the second guy killed after him. The rest were awesome. Like i said i hope this was on easy.

A lot of people fail to realize that a game that is in a pre-alpha state is nowhere near ready to launch in the same year. Looks wonderful at this stage, but despite that, graphics aren't everything.

This does lookfantastic & all credit to GG...great work.
At risk of sounding like the media with their comments on their hate-child (Killzone) I do have a concern on how deep the changes in the series have been. I love the lean/peek addition, although I have yet to use it. I like the open area map size, I like the atmosphere, but I do wonder about linearity in maps and environmental interactivity in respect of the character and its ability to move freely throughout a map ( I dont mean environemental destruction). I notice the trenches force you down a certain path....I would hope multiple path choices would be available to complete a mission.
I think the (Army of two) idea of AI assistance to reach high platforms is great & we need to see much more of environmental interactivity like that. Although I am concerned that this may just be set pieces which mean you have no choice but to use those routes and have no option of which areas you wish to climb.
No, Im not knocking KillZone2.
But they have made such a fantastic job of the visuals and much more that I feel they have had to sacrifice something. COD4 has some fantastic elements, but the elements I feel are missing just ruined what could have been a great game fro me...making it average (IMO of course).

This game looks amazing for alpha build. I hope the game can make it glitch-free or at least no large glitches like the first one that I had to redo a level 4 times before it worked.
