Lets see what revenue "HD" has over the next 12 months. If by 2009 the revenue is still less than 5% of film & music media sales - both formats will have lost.

The point here is that consumers did not choose which format they wanted - they didnt give up on one or the other - the studios are trying to force the decision. Why? Because sales of Bluray and HD DVD continue to be miniscule. Not one company made a profit on HD last year ... Lost cause really... Macphisto is quite right... who needs to see Austin Powers in HD ? The price must be the same if not lower than DVD to kick start any meaningful sales volumes...

So, Gears of War is coming to the PS3. lol

The Lord of the Rings was/is epic. I wouldn't be surprised if this eventually winds up in my house on Blu ray. Not before Advent Children Complete though XD.

No TheCleaner did not make any sense. It is only two years since both formats were officially released. Making a comparison like this is similar to making a comparison from VHS sals to DVD's in the year 1998.

It's idiotic to think that penetration peaks that quickly. Even with no compitition 2 years after its release VHS still had a huge stranglehold on the market. No one made idiotic comments about choice then.

Blu ray has consistantly been out selling hd dvd for almost a year straight in the US. With ratios like 3:1, 4:1, 9:1 in US, europe and japan respectively, it is obvious that consumers have spoken.

About damn time The Lord of the Rings came to Blu-ray!!!
