[UPDATE] New Onimusha title on the horizon?

UPDATE:

False alarm. Turns out the new game is another entry in the Sengoku Basara franchise, aka Devil Kings in the west.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE:

Capcom has launched a fresh teaser site pointing to the imminent announcement of a new entry in the Onimusha franchise.

The teaser displays three dates that correspond to the setting of previous entries in the PlayStation 2 horror series, namely 1560, 1573 and 1582. Each date is promptly crossed out before 1600 appears on screen accompanied by some moody ambience. It’s also worth pointing out that the presentation bares some resemblance to what Capcom has employed in the series over the years.

Originally conceived as a PlayStation title, Onimusha eventually jumped ship to PS2 and made its Japanese debut in January 2001. The game spawned a number of sequels, with the most recent entry, Dawn of Dreams, arriving in 2006.

    i love this series but since capcom has been treating us ps3 owners rather badly lately i doubt we will get it the same time as 360 owners maybe a year later.

    I really hope that it is a new onimusha game. I really enjoyed the first and second one, but I always felt that 3 and dawn of dreams kinda of felt cheesy like they were trying to milk the franchise. My guess is a multiplatform game since da dochbags at capcom love M$ so much. By da way sappyoda I DONT SPEAK JAPANESE! All those kanjis could've meant something else. I saw basara but i dont see anything that says capcom.

    Love the First game and the second was ok . Hope there is a demo out before the game.

    How is it basara 3. .if there are four dates? Shouldnt it be basara 4?

    how is it basara3?  well if you were inclined enough to actually click the link youd see a huge BASARA3 across the screen after it crosses out the dates..  just saying o_0

    I enjoyed all the Onimusha titles. Capcom should follow up on Dawn of dreams because there was a couple of loose ends

    lol surely this is a mistake on psu .... it says basara on link but I would love to see a new omnimusha game ... but like the first one the later ones got a bit silly :)

    yeah i think its time PSU updated this story as it says basara 3 on the title bar and after the dates it reveals basara 3

    Well, I looked up this Basara and I read a little about it, and it seems like it would be a new story line for the new Onimusha game. It would be interesting to be a female dressed up as a male and fight demons and stuff. I'm excited, I always loved the series. I also love how you guys think they're wrong because it doesn't say Onimusha. Do you even know what Basara is?

    The Basara games are also known as Devil Kings in the West.  The first ones came out on the PS2, and I believe there was a psp game as well.

    not to nitpick the article, but is onimusha really a horror series?  a new game would be sweet but i'm not getting my hopes up...

    Even though this is for Basara 3, I can't see how Crapcom hasn't made a new Onimusha as of yet anyways. Or a new Breath of Fire, or a new PowerStone or a new Chaos Legion (wishful thinking lol)......but they have the time, money and man power to make a new Bionic Commando? (which flopped)  Maybe they will come around.....releasing a new DMC, SF and RE has proven that they are not complete idiots. So there is still hope.

    this is what's gonna  happen, capcom makes it and they announce by showing a prerendered teaser trailer, and at the end, it will have the 360 logo, and this trailer will premiere at the microsoft press conference next year and that guy will say something about playstation games jumping ship

    and they will say the PS3 version of the game has not started development until the 360/pc verrsion is complete and then PS3 owners get it a year later with all the flaws and bugs and worse graphics

    Badz_ps3..read my first post....I said it that I read Basara 3...mayb u should look more carefully before u make assumptions...Y i said "y is it basara 3?" the teaser site has 4 dates...jus saying 0_o
