New PSP battery and covers coming soon

Most handheld gamers will rarely complain if offered an extended battery life for their portable system, and Sony has done just that for its PlayStation Portable.
John Koller, Senior Marketing Manager for the PSP, announced today that Sony would be releasing a brand new PSP Extended Life Battery Kit to give gamers more playing time with the handheld.
The new Extended Life Battery Kit includes a 2200 mAh battery pack that can double the battery life of the new PSP model (PSP 2000). The extended kit is slightly larger than the original battery packed in with the PSP redesign and because of that new battery covers in Piano Black and Ice Silver are included as part of the kit.
To make the new PSP slimmer, the capacity of the battery was reduced by about 1/3. Due to more efficient power usage, the runtime of the PSP is still the same as the original model. Extended life batteries used in the older model will still work with the redesigned PSP, though the battery cover on the newer design does not fit over the older battery due to its bulkier size.
The new battery kit will be available at retailers for USD 44.99 USD in mid-December, just in time for the holidays.

I guess this means all the junkies can stay on their PSP for longer. In any case, it's good news.

I have to agree even after switching up to a new PSP my battery live is still pretty darn good. Remember the days when people used to scream the PSP had a 6 hours battery life?
I'm not fond of the idea of having to buy a new battery cover for my PSP though. The whole Idea of a Slim&Lite version was to reduce size and weight. this makes it sound like it's going to be lop-sided and off balance.

Cool - Sony's extended battery holds extra charge. Simply pull the pin on your PSP and throw. :P
