Fresh speculation as to the possibility of a new addition in the Pyschonauts series has cropped up on the Internet today, courtesy of Tim Schafer’s highly acclaimed Double Fine studio.
Eagle-eyed users browsing the company’s official website have reported that the site has uploaded an image of what appears to be the Pyschonauts logo in the ‘Projects’ section; further examination shows it is possible to discern a ‘Coming Soon’ banner across the logo itself, seemingly hinting that a future title is in the works.
Even so, official confirmation on the existence of a new game has yet to be announced, so we’d advise you to file this under ‘rumour’ for now – at least until we hear otherwise.
UPDATE:
Schafer has since issued a statement on the matter, confirming that no sequel is currently in the works:
"Man, who knew how much excitement a little darkness could bring? The truth is we are just putting together a new page about 'The Excellent Game Psychonauts.' We're not announcing any new games or anything. Sorry if we confused anybody! We lightened up the image to hopefully make things clearer", he told Next-Gen.biz.
Still, he hinted that the studio would like to pursue such a project, provided they had the necessary funds to do so:
"Not right now, but we’d love to [make a sequel to Psychonauts] someday. If anyone out there has a few million dollars burning a hole in their pocket, and would like to help us make an Excellent Sequel to Psychonauts, please let us know!"
Donations in the post then!

Don't understand the whole 'gotta be the first to post' thing. Seems that if people don't have something to say, whats the point? Anyway, such annoyances aside, this is really great news. I bought Psychonauts used and was only able to get through about half the game when I ran into problems with the media (it was not in the best shape). Since then I look on occasion for a used copy at the local stores, but it is a hard thing to find. This was easily one of my favorites for the PS2, right up there with RE4 and Okami. I really hope that a sequel emerges for the PS3, as this is one of the most creative games I've ever had the pleasure of playing.

The game could have been great, but there were too many highly fustrating jumping puzzles that turned me off.
I am surprised they are doing a second one since the first one was a financial disaster. Even though the game was critically praised, it was a commercial bomb.

@3
At least he didn't do the "1st post" thing.
This game was really good but didn't rack up any sales. It's kind of suprising they're trying it again. Another good game to try this with would be Beyond Good & Evil (I think that was the title).
