New The Last Remnant trailer entices, but game delayed on PS3

Really Square Enix? The disappointment just keeps flowing today as yet another Square Enix title goes to Microsoft, this time in the form of a timed exclusive. That's right, The Last Remnant, a title originally assumed to launch simultaneously on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, has been delayed on Sony's system. As of today, The Last Remnant is set to launch on 360 this winter with a PS3 release window to be announced at a later date.
Microsoft continues to monopolize the previously PlayStation-preferenced publisher despite the 360's near-total failure in the region of Japan. With Star Ocean's future hazy on PS3 and Infinite Undiscovery a confirmed 360 exclusive, we imagine Square Enix must have received a more than hefty payment from the Microsoft corporation in order to keep supporting 360 so avidly.
As a consolation prize, a beautiful trailer full of stellar production values and talking lizards has just been released for The Last Remnant. Honestly though, watching it only makes the knowledge of a delay that much harder. Regardless, we've embedded it below.

Looks like Final Fantasy XII with higher res textures and some bad voice acting. Just show me FFXIII and Versus XIII Square-Enix.

why do people always keep making comments on wether M$ is giving money or not for games or exclusives... It does not matter what Gates throws at any developer truth is... Blu-Ray is and will be the decisive factor on this console war ;) Bet on that ;)

I've got a 360 so it's not like I mind about the Xbox 360 part but this game doesn't look that good either way.
It's looks no where near as good as Lost Odyssey is.
Don't worry, boys. We've still got the big guns. We'll have our revenge the day Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII come out on Playstation 3. -

ugh, Square-Enix isn't really impressing me lately. I'm giving them a slight nod cause Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is good. Now if they did make a Final Fantasy VII Remakei, they'll jump up my list again.

Its really making me mad to see microsoft throwing money to developers just to get games on their console. Ive never been into RPG's until I played Oblivion and that was on the PS3, and I knew there was millions of good ones for the PS2, so I was happy that I owned a PS3. I guess I was wrong. I wont get to play any good RPG's until FFXII, and Fallout 3. I thought Square was going to make PS3 RPG's. Im so angry, I just want to play an RPG.

Is it just me or did anyone think that the PS3 version may be taking longer to finish than the X360 version? Last Remnant is using the Unreal 3 Engine after all, an engine which was designed for a x86 interface, compared to the PS3, using this engine is easier to code for the X360. the fact may be that due to problems with coding the PS3 version has somewhat fallen behind schedule. And it wasn't promised for a simultaneous release on the platforms it was promised a simultaneous release "worldwide" if i'm not mistaken...

Microsoft is only trying to save its japanese market. It just might work if SONY DOESNT START PLAYING WITH NEW RULES. Secure content and the rest will follow. You already have the superior hardware, now go get us more games! Nothing is free anymore. Microsoft changed the industry when developers found out that they can work half as hard getting content out and still get paid for two systems worth. So instead of developing 1 game for two systems now they develop 2 games for 1 system and make double! Microsoft's business model cant work forever though. SONY needs to start playing console wars instead of expecting everything will go in their favor just because of their past success.
out of curiosity : just looked up buying an xbox elite...holy crap...450 for system, 105 for wireless adapter, 600 per year for online play, thats $ 1,155 just to start out! add 50 for another controller another 100 for two games and 140 to get it fixed after it overheats in 6 months, then buy super cooling fan unit 150 and I'm looking at $1,595 just to play rpg's..(or almost a grand w/out online play).I cant believe how much more the ps3 offers out of the box...I never really looked at xbox before because I hate the controller!

On how many DVDs will the 360 SE games be published? I remember Star Ocean already been 2 DVDs on the PS2. Now with bigger textures and resources ...
360 owners can experience the PSOne years all over again :-D

they do this to us and then when it finally comes out, to try to put us at ease they say "oh it has better graphics then the xbox version and better framerate" while i'm sure that couldve been achieved in lesser time and was already done (they just put it off for a while)

Well with the wallet of Microsoft this will be a loosing game for Sony. So their only choice is to secure that MS only get's timed exclusives.. and sell a lot of consoles with the secure cards they have. There is no way Sony can fight MS on the wallet.

This is how understand this SE stuff. The 360's 10million consoles worldwide isn't a neglishable number. Also SE has Dark Cloud,FFs,Last Remnant, Start Ocean,White Knight and more on the way. The ps3 has more off these rpgs compared to 360.I believe that SE wants to be recognised on the 360 that is why they turn to support it more. So they need more of 360's fans to buy their games.
On the ps3, SE is a reputable company. Just as Sony did with Killzone, I believe SE doesn't want to release so many good rpgs at once.Rather they surely want to give a 3 to 6 months gap between both releases, so that the sales of each these titles will be high. Considering the fact that some people might to have the money and the time to buy these games at same time and play them parallelly.
What ever the case, so long as SE keeps releasing great games for the ps3, I really don't have any problem with that.I hope they also realise that they will have a best software sales on the ps3.

i think this is microsofts answer to ther utter failure in japan, buy up a load of excusives from one of the biggest publishers of games from japan and see how it goes, im just hoping sony really start to rethink their policy on buying exclusives, i mean y would square dev major games solely for a console that almost no one in its main audience (japan has bought) unless they were getting payed a h3ll of a lot to do so.
sony better stop taking the high ground and pay for some excusives or microsoft could get a decent foothold in japan finally, square enix sells

i really dont understand why they deley games for the ps3 since all devs say its easy to develop for or its hard to develop for but easier then the ps2.the 360 is basically a dreamcast its should not survive with no hard drive n using old dvds but when u got bill gates n his 50billion or wot ever it is he can pay to keep it alivejust like he tried with hd dvds, shame really cause its ruining next gen gaming.

and forgot to say, Star Ocean is created by Tri-Ace not SE they only publish it. Lets wait until the E3 this was a XBOX event so it's normal they don't announce anything for the 360. And didn't Sony say a while ago they were going to make more work to keep there exclusives, maybe this is what woke them up.

I cant believe people are getting upset and moaning that square enix will have taken money from ms to make it a timed exclusive. They are a business and are there to make money.
If you owned a business and somebody came along and offered you a wad of cash for you to give them your product ahead of your rivals then you'd accept it,its how the world works.
