Ubisoft has confirmed that it has no plans to release a demo of its upcoming fourth instalment in the Prince of Persia franchise.
Speaking with Eurogamer, Producer Ben Mattes stated that a demo is "Not planned,” adding, "Doing demos of open-world games is a technical challenge; plus we're not convinced we need to. It's a brand that has some history, some built-in fan-base and we can benefit a little bit from that. Whether you like Sands of Time, Warrior Within or Two Thrones, chances are you're going to love this game because there are elements of all of those in it."
Mattes observed that many game demos are of poor quality, and as a result do more harm than good to the game’s overall success.
"There's just so many awful demos,” he said. "Let's face it, releasing a demo when you also have an E3 version to put together, and you're beta etc... It's not the kind of thing that' s going to allow you to put together a really polished demo.”
"There's a reality of production we have to live with which means if we did put together a demo there's a potential that it wouldn't be at the level we want it to be. Then what are you doing? You're doing your game a disservice by putting it in players' hands before it's ready. Nobody wants that."
Prince of Persia is due out on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 later this year.

these companies are really killing me with this nosense about sand box games not being able to have a demo, and for some reson it's always ubisoft first with that naruto game, then assasins creed, now this. Saint's row released a demo and it was a sandbox game; all you have to do is have the demo in a closed off area and toss a few battles and a puzzle in and wallah demo complete

He is right, PoP is a well known game, and gameplay should be about the same, it always has (with some improvements), but really no demo is needed.
@Traveler1990:
You clearly have no idea of development process. You make it sound so easy but I've got news for you... it isn't as simple as you think and for a well known game such as this it would be a waste of developmen power to work on a demo.@d3athscyth3:
Haze was a new IP, PoP is well known, you cannot even compare. Nobody asked for a MGS or a GTA demo, why, because these are well known franchise that you don't really need a demo for. -

i suppose hes right if this game have the fist PoP elements in it and play like Assassins Creed this game don't need a demo. since its the same team behind both franchise i trust this game wont be no less then those four games. but i doubt this type of game flop like HAZE, this type of game is UBIsoft type of game. No demo is cool besides its plenty of well none free rome games that don't have a demo like GTA V.C - GTA IV. for the same reason he said "chances are you're going to love this game because there are elements of all of those in it."
