No plan for PS3 VF5 patch, says Sega

Virtua Fighter 5 was a brilliant title when it was released on PlayStation 3 early last year. An upgraded version of VF5 was ported to the 360 approximately six months later, which included an online mode that was conspicuously absent from the PS3 version.

Recently, Sega released a patch on the 360 which improved various aspects of the title across both offline and online modes. Don't expect to see this anytime soon on your PS3. Accoring to Jay Boor, "at this time SEGA has no plans to release a patch for the PS3 version of Virtua Fighter 5."

It's frustrating when a PS3-timed exclusive gets shafted simply for coming out first, but it happens. At least we can expect online play come the inevitable release of Virtua Fighter 6.

Who would have thought? :|  Kind of a 'garbage' thing to do especially when you have openly said that you rushed our version to make the launch window.  They'll probably do a 'Evolution' thing to get some extra money on us :|

Thats stupid, why is everyone against the PS3. You always hear Xbox is getting this but PS3 isnt or the Xbox does this better than the PS3, its never anything good about the PS3 which is kinda annoying!

When Soul Calibur IV comes out it won't even matter. I had VF5 but with no one to beat down other than a bunch of A.I. controlled fighters and trying to pimp my fighter it just got boring.

I don't care about this one... kind of like a bootleg... but they better not try this junk with Tekken 6...

meh...i prefer playing this on PS3...i refuse point blank to pay M$ for the privelage of new items for the fighters...although SEGA missed out on a huge marketing opportunity at xmas...free themed costumes for VF5...would have had people going out and buying it just to see...

Sega sucks.  Really sucks.  Maybe they're still bitter on the fact that PS2 ended their console business, but that was their own fault anyway.  That's what I hate about timed exclusives, when they are ported to the other system, they always add more features to the port that the older version is almost negligable.  I wonder if UT3 will be that much better on 360 as well... Anyway, I'd rather play Tekken anyday.  SCREW YOU SEGA!

I smell another case of M$ buying exclusive content. M$ probably dropped a large sack of money on Sega's door (something they probably haven't seen in a while given their lackluster games lineup) so they jumped on it and said "we'll do anything you say M$, just promise more of these in the future, pretty please etc."

It's what M$ did with Rockstar for GTA4 when Rockstar was at a very financially dangerous and risky time in its history (Manhunt gets banned from release, other titles get delayed etc.)

VF5 has always been a garbage game. And now as time goes on. Sega is becomming more of a garbage company as well.

    • 12:25am GMT - January 20th, 2008

Oh well. I guess all we can do in the future is just rent a sega title if we're curious, instead of outright purchasing it. Pinch the consumer and they'll pinch back.

Yeah, by no plans, he means "too lazy to",  Sega has really had a mediocre couple years at best, VF5 sucked horridly IMO.  Sonic blows too.

it appears M$ is dropping bags of money everywhere. guess thats the only way M$ can actually keep ahead of the ps3 for now. but soon people will see that our exclusives are alot better tha the xbox's.

    • 6:53am GMT - January 20th, 2008

This sort of crap is not tollerable. Sega enjoyed the benefits of consumers money with lots of PS2 owners forking out for VF4 and VF4 Evolution big time. They owe a lot to Playstation users.

Four years later and again Sega is enjoying our money after we fork out (AU$98 in my case) for VF5 yet they dont see fit to support their customers. Instead they take that BS line used far to often now days of "it's the old one so just suck it and buy our new product coming up soon"..... Well Sega won't be getting one penny from me you slack ar.ses.

And as for this second class citizen sh.it being dished out to PS3 users by quite a few lazy developers - we need to take names and frikken ban their products. Don't buy anything that is poor quality. I dont care how game starved I get - Im not paying for second best. - IF IT AINT UP TO SCRATCH DO YOURSELF & EVERYONE A FAVOR AND PASS IT UP. If we hurt the bad publishers wallets they will start making PS3 games a whole lot better - If not, we can expect more of the same from here on in.

I've never cared for the VF series or bought any of them. Crashbox can have the online mode. With Titeles like KZ2, MGS4, Haze, whos gives a F*** about VF

@Bedsidelee-Fuel of War has not been canned, and no one cares that you have a crashbox. It will probally die on you soon anyways.

Actually there are numerous sites, along with every Gamestop in my area confirming that the PS3 version was canned.  I say good riddance, in the videos the game looks like a wreck anyway.
