PS3: Over 60 million PSN downloads to date?

With the PlayStation 3 celebrating its one year birthday, Sony has released a press statement to boast some stats and information on their baby.

Within the course of just one year, over 200 games have been released for the PlayStation 3. This number, of course includes PSN titles, which, interestingly enough could be part of the reason that Sony claims to have had over 60 million downloads from their PlayStation Network. An amazing number for a new network, Sony has proven that the PSN is here to stay and has plenty to offer.

Sony went on to list key features of the system and talk about the latest firmware updates, as well as speak on their current pricing options and future software releases.

All in all, despite the rocky start, the PlayStation 3 has achieved quite a lot in its first year on the market, and with great games rolling out for the holidays, Sony will be seeing tremendous support this Christmas.     Keep getting those demo's out, provide new and old PS classics, and continue to add new features and DLC to the fanbase Sony. =P

    psn id: gingo... 60 million!!!!!! thats incredible fair enough its a free service but that is still one heck of a unmber to be proud of

    I sure hope that some form of  Socom Confrontation ends up on the PSN.

    Thats pretty sweet. I bet the rate of downloads doubles once home replaces the ps store. BTW thats why i think the store is just a lame web page. Its just temporary hold over until the TRUE PSN arrives.

    happy birthday ps3! ps3 is one of the best things i have ever bought!its good to see how well it is doing and its only bin owt for a year and look at the titles what are coming ps3 owns all the consoles owt there!

    I've downloaded about 45 demos, and 55 videos. So 60 million downloads seems right thinking of that there are about 5-6 millions sold

    dont forget that the ps3 has only been out for half a year in some places like europe etc. So if you think about it its even more acomplishing than the chart states.
