Tired of watching 360 ports come over to the PS3 and not be up to snuff? The development team behind Rainbow Six Vegas 2 feels for you and agrees. Today they let the gaming community know that Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will not be a ported version from the 360 side.
Philippe Therien, Vegas 2 Designer from Ubisoft Montreal has stated that the team is currently working on putting both versions on the same level graphics-wise but each game will have their slight difference. He goes on to say that the lighting may be different from each version, but doesn’t say which will look better.
He had this to say directly, "It's very important for us that the 360 and the PS3 version are the same. We're working really hard right now to put them on par graphics wise. As far as the gameplay goes it's going to be the entire same product."
When he was questioned at the slight differences between the two finalized products in the end, Therien preached this, "The two consoles don't handle everything in the same way. Lighting doesn't come out the same on both consoles. But other than those very slight variations they should be the same graphically."
One of the best things that came from his interview with VideoGamer.com was the way he explained the development procedure that they were taking with the title.
"They're (the PS3 and Xbox 360) very different. PS3 and Xbox 360, it's not the same at all. When we were working it's not like there's a 360 version and it's being ported on PS3, that doesn't really work. So what we did is we split the team in three, we got people working on Xbox, people playing PlayStation and people working on PC. These three teams are working together but in parallel to make sure everything gets to the same point. That's not to say that one console is better than the other, they're just different. We just want people to choose the platform of their choice to play Vegas the way we want them to."
Therien also mentioned that the team behind Assassin’s Creed lent some advice and support in how to improve graphic quality throughout the title as well. With this latest information and the fact that the PS3 users had to put up with a sloppy performance in Rainbow Six Vegas, it’s comforting to know that Ubisoft is taking the proper measures in giving each console a quality game to enjoy.

I wanted to get the first one but I heard it was a crap port . Hopefully this one comes out perfect, well, as perfect as any FPS can be on the PS3 controller.

I might play this, without the excitement and tension of playing in a gamebattle,COD4 is getting boring. It takes little to no skills to get skills, and its to easy for noobs to kill ppl..cough* mp5 cough* cough* p90...

key word here "ubisoft monteal." they butchered assassin's creed so dont expect this game to be any better then the last. I wont be getting this or any other game created by ubisoft monteal. They should spend less time working on their slap shots and more time working with the PS3.

@ Gero:
Ok, I would like to agree with you and I still believe the PS3 is capable of more than the 360 but what evidence is there? I have yet to see a game on the PS3 with better graphics than a game on the 360. I really hope Killzone 2 and MGS 4 will change this. -

The only reason Ubisoft is finally doing this is because companies like Naughty Dog, Insomniac, and Activison have proven that quality games can be made on the PS3. Personally I still don’t trust Ubisoft any more and I never will again (too many bad games and delays, not to mention wasted money.) but I wish them all the best in getting their work together.

Honestly, the PS3 has been publicly available since Nov of '06. 06! Why are they (devs) still tinkering around trying to work out how to make a decent multiplatform game! And they must have had some access to kits even before the system was released to us. Are they still going to be doing this in a year from now? How long is the "haven't quite figured out how to program on a PS3" going to be used and still accepted as a viable reason they can't get their s*&t together like some of the smaller companies?

In response to "Limanima's" comment i believe that the fact people are "playing on the playstation" measn all they ave done is port the 360 version over and are making sure it looks and runs the same. I dont think they are actually developing for the console itself just making sure the port is up to teh same standard, which is balls.
