Sony talks screen capturing with PS3
Dead Space launch trailer unveiledElectronic Arts’ Vice President and General Manage for UK, Keith Ramsdale, has gone on record to suggest that owners of Sony’s PlayStation 3 console are intent on waiting for quality software to arrive, but forecast a prosperous future for the next-generation videogames machine.
"If you look at FIFA 08, on its first weekend the PS3 numbers were 75 per cent of the Xbox 360 numbers, despite the 360 having a massively higher install base”, Ramsdale told Gamesindustry.biz this week.
"That's not that the 360 has underperformed, not for a moment. That's because the appetite for a quality game on the PS3 is there and maybe FIFA is the first game to come and show where the quality is."
"I think PS3 consumers are waiting for the right game and they want to see the quality."
Ramsdale also observed the recent price cut, recognising it as a critical decision in Sony’s plans for the console, adding, "Of course the hardware sales increased dramatically when the price cut happened and that's absolutely part of it. Ray Maguire said himself that they were planning that, it was part of their strategy and I absolutely understand that.
"But what I would say is that the software sales against a hardware install base on a good game like FIFA - the PS3 outpunches its weight in attachment to the hardware. So now the price drop has happened, the hardware is going to grow, and we're in for a great time."

FIFA 08? Quality? Hmm...
well maybe if EA would take a page from infinity ward and make some DECENT games then they would get more software sales!

Quality games? There are currently 5 new/soon to be released title available that I want to add to my list, 2 are PS3 exclusives. Must people won’t tend to buy that amount of software at any one time. I don’t see that as waiting for good games more waiting to get paid so I can order them a few of them.
So ironic, is it not? He cites FIFA as a quality title, when in fact they have gone down in history as the exact opposite.

Waiting for quality games? That's funny because I have 10 games now and probably 3 more by year's end. I don't have enough time to play them all yet, but so far all of them (except Oblivion) are getting a lot of my spare time. I will say though, that COD4 is an impressive game.
Oblivion has done a good job keeping me occupied!

there are games with so many times fifa's quality its b/c people in eu like football and they didnt have any other next g en but this, and btw make a quality game that is worthy of 9 and then u can trash the rest but before that please look at ps3 games before u call fifa "quality game"

Ahh, come on!! There have already been numerous AAA titles!! And they just keep dropping by!! I'm actually spending a lot of my time planning what to use my hard earned money on! And i don't got so much... i only got 2 games, NGS and the newest: R&C Tools of Destruction!!! :) (Of some reason, they removed Future out of the european title... what's up with that!?)

2. Doesn't FIFA sell bucket loads on all Sony pltform in the UK every year anyway? Especially that the ads on TV I've seen, tells you that FIFA 08 on PS3, not seen the 360 ad for FiFa
EA talking about quality is like A dictator talking about Civil Rights. And We have quality titles, we just need reviewers to judge them fairly.

EA and quality games just doesn't seem to go hand in hand. FIFA 08 maybe their best effort to date, but they have a long way to go on their other titles.

As much as I hate EA games. The article is right. I bought my PS3 an launch, and its still sitting in its box waiting for a quality game. I took it out for a week or so for Oblivion, but havent touched it since.
And what quality titles has EA brought to the table? ohhh, u mean our 30 FPS madden 08'. ohh yea, thats real quality. EA SUKS!!!!!!!!!!!
