Currently on Amazon.co.uk, the PlayStation 3 is ranked at #3 for Bestselling PC and Video Game item putting it ahead of Halo 3 and the Xbox 360 systems.

Here's the standings at the time of writing:

1. Football Manager 2008 (PC)
2. Nintendo Wii Console (Wii Sports Included)
3. Sony PlayStation 3 Console (60GB)
4. Halo 3 (Xbox 360)
5. Brain Training (DS)
6. HL2: Orange Box (Xbox 360)
7. HL2: Orange Box (PC-DVD)
8. FIFA 08 (PS3)
9. HDMI Cable (PS3)
10. Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3)

This is great news for Sony, since the Xbox 360 is currently sitting at #28 for Amazon UK. Also, according to Amazon.com the PS3 still ranks higher at #11 where as the Xbox 360 Elite is at #15.

Could we start to see a major climb in PlayStation 3 sales? Perhaps with the new addition of a cheaper 40GB model (in Europe, Australia and Japan), consumers will help drive sales this holiday season and bring the PS3 closer to its main competitor, the Xbox 360.

Stay tuned.

This is quite good for sony, and I really hope this will help boost their sales and thus encourage developpers like capcom to concentrate a great deal on the ps3 like they did with the ps2

We need to do a shat load better than catch up... If we started selling 100,000 units per month MORE than Wii for every month here on in - it would take more than 15 years just to be equal. For Xbox 360 we seriously have to out sell it by a big number - like double. Otherwise we will still be last two years from now.

The 60GB with BC was a good model - why cant they just reposition the 80GB with BC and push harder on the price. With devs leaving in droves there is no time for half measures. They also have to do some propper advertising on TV and in mainstream publications.

I dont know why everyone is fretting. eventually the PS3 will come good and outsell all other consoles, it is the only TRUE next Gen console on all fronts. It will eventually repeat the PS2's success and sell over 100Million units and again Sony will dominate.

I've just checked amazon uk now (Oct 15th 9:35AM GMT), and actually the PS3 is second behind Football manager 2008. Rankings:

    1. Football manager 2008

    2. Sony Playstation 3 Console (60GB)

    3. Halo 3 (Xbox 360)

    4. Nintendo Wii Console

    5. HDMI Cable (PS3)

this will afect sales all over Europe in an unexpected way...the next 6 to 7 months will be crucial to ps3...it's a pain that the launch date of many games had to be delayed...but I believe that everyone understands that it only means more quality when it comes down to  the end product...this will make 2008 the year of the turnover...I wonder what Bill Gaitas  is thinking right now. (oh just fyi, gaitas means dik in portuguese) hehehe

And the freakin' wii is still ahead.I don't even know why so many people buy that thing.

Because its cheaper and has some innovative? ^^ Regardless at least Sony is picking up on lost ground it had in the beginning and whether it can take hold of europe in general (eliminating the wii's lead) then they can focus on doing this with other regions.

Who cares about the wii the wii isnt even in competition with 360 and ps3 and for sure not ps3.  They are marketing to an entire different group.  I guess they figured to make a system that wouldnt be in direct competition and make another mistake of being crushed by playstation.  ALSO WOOT!! PS3
