There wasn’t a very strong showing from Sony’s gaming division at CES 2008. Of course, this was expected; however, this didn’t stop Paul Purdy from announcing a much awaited confirmation for PS3 users world-wide.
Paul has gone on record stating that the PlayStation 3’s Xcross Media Bar will have in-game access sometime this year. When asked if he had a more specific time frame, Paul decided that information was enough.
Sony fans have watched their counterparts enjoy custom soundtracks and messaging in-game for a couple of years now. It’s only a matter of time until the leveler is set and the scale starts tilting in the opposite direction.

Anyways ive known for awhile that they been working on it but now we have an expected timeframe. So it could be now to December 31st (i got that from joystiq).
I don't care about the in-game stuff music, pictures and all that. The only thing I truly care about in-game is messenging. Sucks having to quit a game just to tell a fellow PSN'er

Why do people keep putting In Game XMB and Home together??? they're TWO SEPERATE THINGS Ingame XMB has nothing to do with Home! Just because home has a version of it dosent mean anything. Eye of Judgment, Rockband and a few others already do the same thing that Home does right now which is ingame messaging. It's software enabled XMB it's not the hardware version that people want that gives us access to things like the MP3 player.
They won't release it with home, Why would they?
we will hear the progress in march during gdc along with what sony plans on doing with the network upgrades. e3 sony will announce igxmb will be released mid july followed by home in august. (my predictions)
im willing to wait and let them take there time and implimit it well. but it seems you guys just want some kinda crappy XMB... well i for one want them to make it good.
Anyone else think PSN should utilize a XMB based interface? That would be sweet.

Get some writers who doesn't have lives, so they can just write news for PSU all day long. Then we wouldn't have to deal with these delays all the time.

great...even though we were meant to have in game XMB sometime in 2007...and before that it would be live in 2006 when the console launched...wait until they give us a date (october 2009 anyone?) until then i'll stick to the 360 for chatting to my mates...

Finally it in game XMB is on its way. Thanks to the mighty ps3 which has no limits, features just keep coming as Sony fans want them, infact ps3 is here to last for a very long time. See ya Wii and 360.

yeah i agree with the above post, Sony is taking entirely too long on getting this launched as opposed to it being launched almost a6 months ago

You won't have to wait long. This is a feature already in place in HOME. I don't see it taking much longer.
