It was speculated all over the web and has now finally been confirmed. Today, Sony has confirmed the implementation of Skype VOiP to your PSP handheld. However, this new feature will only be available to the new slim-line PSPs, as well as the Series 2000 models.
Skype is a phone service that has more than 256 million registered users. Skype allows you to call anyone else in the world also registered through Skype, free of charge. No longer can your parents complain over a long distance bill, as you can feel free to chat it up worry free.
Here are some of the specific features you can expect to enjoy through this upgrade:
-- Free voice calls between Skype users
-- Skype contact list management (view existing contacts, add new ones)
-- Skype presence (see which friends are online and available to talk)
-- SkypeOut(TM) calls to make calls to landlines and mobile phones
anywhere in the world (requires the purchase of Skype credit)
-- Optional SkypeIn(TM) number that lets users receive calls on Skype from
landlines and mobiles anywhere in the world (requires the purchase of
Skype credit)
-- View and modify Skype settings and account details (including username
creation, SkypeOut settings, voicemail settings and call forwarding)
To think, it’s only a matter of time until the PSP becomes the ultimate prank phone call device.

they should have a ps3 version or when you plug the psp to the ps3 it enables video chat, or have compatibility with the psp camera

Prank calls wasn't even my first thought. Shame on me.
Too bad you'll most likely have to be in WiFi hotspots to use it.
