Eurogamer reports that within a week of its release, the PSPgo has already garnered a price reduction in the UK, with selected retailers lowering the price from a hefty £250 to a more affordable £200. Amazon, Play, GAME, and HMV are among the most reasonable, asking £199.99 for the new portable delight. Not all are taking to the new price, however, with Argos and ShopTo scharging £219.99 and £224.99 for the platform, respectively.
Yesterday we reported that Sony had revealed that UK sales of PlayStation Portable hardware had increased 120 percent with the launch of PSPgo last week. Will you be snatching up your own PSPgo in the weeks to come? Let us know in the comments section below.

I suppose sales weren't as expected in Europe despite what they say, the price was the main thing stopping me buying this and I still think £200 is too much considering I could probably get a PSP-3000 or an older model for MUCH cheaper, plus UMDs are probably about half the price of a digital download!

The price is ridiculous for a handheld. Plus UMD's are better than downloads because you can swap them with friends or trade them in at a game store when you have finished with them. When you finish a downloaded game all you can do is delete it to free space on your hard drive, I hope video games never become download only for this reason. Although I can see the big publishers pushing it to kill the resale market. Maybe if they shared the savings by significantly reducing the price of games it might be okay.

No PSPgo for me. Price isn't an issue - I just don't want the smaller screen. I'll stick with my 3000 and 16GB Memory Stick for the best of both worlds.

They should of been charging $199 from the start. Honestly, It's the perfect price point for a machine thats just about the PSP (in their eyes) no? You can get the 3000 for $160 or a pack for $200 OR upgrade to a GO for the same price as the pack, that seems just right to me.
Not, "Should I get a "PSPGo" or throw in $50 and get a PS3? ":P

I just bought the original PSP for £60 im liking that so far.
If the price goes down even more for the Go id consider getting it, but even at £200 seems a bit to much for me. -

@ 4, good point and very true.
Won't be touching this until it reaches the $250-$300 price range here in Aus.

What's with the misinformation PSU?
PSPgo has NEVER been £250 in the UK, Tesco had it for £199.99 months ago, Play.com and HMV (maybe others) more recently BEFORE RELEASE have been selling for £199.99.
And now a few other retailers catch up and the press is painting a picture that this is just starting now? What a crappy industry.

1st thought. Make the thing cheaper than the PSP 3k. It doesn't have as much stuff so why should you pay more?
2nd thought make a phone that is a PSP GO and add a second analog stick (good one). Sell the thing in the US for $200 with a 2 year phone contract. People wouldn't complain about the games that were only for the phone, and those could use the second analog stick. Now for the love of God, don't do something stupid like make the phone cost north of $400. Sony you do have a phone division don't you?

too expensive $189-$199 is a reasonable price an especially since i already have like 20 games on umd they should make a transfer software cause no ones gonna want to re-buy all their games

No doubt sales were less than expected, regardless of what they say. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this product isn't going to perform well. Unless of course the price is justifiable within the feature set, which right now isn't the case. Especially when you can purchase a 3000 and 32gb memory for cheaper, not to mention the UMD is still there if you want to play your old games.
