Since the release of firmware v2.00, PlayStation 3 owners have had the ability to create, upload, download, and customize their PS3 themes and backgrounds. With the help of a great theme building community, PSU has been able to provide one of the best websites for PS3 users to access new themes. Starting today, and continuing every Monday, we'd like to highlight the best themes and provide links for users to download them.
These themes can either be downloaded to your PC and transfered to your PS3 via a flash drive, or you can visit PSU with your PS3 browser and download them directly to the PS3 HDD.
To view our whole gallery of themes, Click here.
If you would like to share a theme you've created, you can upload it here.

Maybe this will help people come up with better themes with custom icons rather than T&A wallpapers using the standard icons.
This one, however, looks hot!

Kind of forgot about the whole themes thing. Meant to make a couple myself but I got caught up in too many things. I hope to have some out soon for those who like the darker, sinister themes.

It does look very very good, but the problem with many of the background pictures used in these themes, there is just too much going on and you cant properly read the menus.

I agree with the comment above; some of these backgrounds, while very cool, have way too much going on. I normally download new themes then revert back to the original flowing ribbon of smoke.
What I'm waiting for is for Sony to come out with more semi-animated backgrounds. If they can do the magic ribbon of smoke then they can do other things. And since the color fades with the time of day they could have far away hills with the sun setting and the moon rising with trees brustling in the wind and little rabbits and such on the screen.
A bit on the girly side but I'm just throwing ideas out there that shouldn't be too hard for the PS3 to pull off. The fact that Sony's only come up with a few themes that don't even compare to some of the homebrewed stuff tells me that they're either not trying or they're saving the really good stuff for firmware update 2.4. Maybe we'll get more visual themes for music and more photo album options too. It's been over a year and beyond the (really cool) space shots and a revised "photo table" option for pictures, there's been nothing.
Get with it Sony!!!! You invented the darn thing. Make some better themes!!!!

@incredibilistic, couldn't have said it better myself, on the subject of music visualisation, I wish for themes based on fractal imagery or something more akin to 'soundscope'(if you bought the psx (press select during cd playback) before psone (actually I have no idea if it had it) you'll know what I mean) or the tech demo on the very first psx demo disc.
