I do believe Parmount accepted some money here. That is not a good move for them. It will affect sales of blu-ray but i dont think it will do much harm to blu-ray.

I'm really disgusted with Paramount on this call.  They are not supporting HD-DVD because they feel it is better or going to be a more successful format, they are supporting it because the got bought out.  It hurts noone but the consumer by dragging out this war even longer--somebody has to get burned in the end.  Shame on them.

screw paramount,they can have they're failure format..I just won't be buying any Paramount movies I guess.Besides these are the same people who cut ties with Tom cruise because he was jumping on a couch....If I had his money and was dating katie holmes I'd be jumping on stuff too

u know what i was gonna buy transformers on BD but because of this stupid move by them i'am not even gonna buy the DVD of it shame on you paramount and i'am p****d with M$ and thier deep pockets

This is terrible for the consumer. The market has been making it's will known and this is a desperate attempt by HD-DVD to try and keep the format breathing. This will confuse people and lead to slower adoption overall and if it DOES succeed in the end...we're stuck with an inferior format? Disks that scratch like DVD's do now and less storage space? Terrible move. Unfortunately the dollar speaks but this is really shocking nonetheless. I hadn't expected to see any major moves (Blockbuster was a HUGE surprise) until AT LEAST after the end of the year. Let's hope this has no effect (somehow) so this "war" can be decided by the consumer and ended either way as quickly as possible! BTW, any information on how long this deal is for? $150 million is not much money at all for Paramount and DreamWorks to split up. Through end of year? 1 year? 5 years? And what's up with Spielberg's titles not being included. Is he a BD fan?

M$ is really pissing me off latley. I hope they go bankrupt throwing all this money around. I would bet M$ has something to do with this, and Toshiba is not behind it. I wish I could run the Mac OS on my PC. I would dump crap soft in a minute........oh and I dont care much fo rLInux

this is a horrible business move....they sold more on blu ray but theyr going to hd dvd??that doesnt make sense at all!! Well,logically it doesnt but,financially,150 million dollars isnt somethin to cough at...but they could have made more money if they just stuck wit blu ray

Am I missing something? Blockbuster commits to BluRay only, BB is owned by Viacom, which is a Paramount Company. So... they are not going to rent next gen copies of their own movies to the public??? Now that's a great business model! Do they think we are stupid or blind?

Paramount are MS whores just like Rockstar. Nearly 10million PS3 sold worlwide and still counting. When sony and other companies drop the prices of their blu-ray players who really going to feel F@#$KED. Paramount thats who. Transformers on blu-ray will obliterate the sales of HD-DVD just like what 300 did.

The winner will be HD Download services. The telco's and most of the big media companies like NewsCorp will win in the end. Bluray really doesnt have much of a life span.

i think blockbuster killed the war
I think alot of people would rather rent a Bluray movie then buy it

I think Paramount will change back, once other companies switch

What the [EDIT]?!? "...Paramount Pictures went ahead and followed up exclusively with HD-DVD."???  "...150 million dollar deal to specifically stop being exclusive with the Blu-Ray format."  So Paramount signed the contract to stop being EXCLUSIVE with Blu-Ray and then they turn leaf and go exclusive for HD-DVD?  Unless someone made a grave mistake in typing this article, it would seem Paramount would have never had to leave Blu-Ray,  just multicast their movies. Stupid f***ers.
