Paramount offers more with Blu-ray

Many companies have been gearing towards Blu-ray lately, but Paramount will be doing it with greater justification.

Paramount Home Entertainment will be shipping several Blu-ray disc movies that will offer more bang for the buck than the version available on HD-DVD.

Blades of Glory will be the first movie the company ships that offers more on Blu-ray. The movie will feature the lossless, or uncompressed, soundtrack of the movie with a PCM 5.1 soundtrack. Of course the movie will be in HD format but the extra feature will not be available on the rivaling HD-DVD format.

Along with Blades of Glory, Paramount will also be releasing Face/Off two weeks later. It will include special features found on DVDs but in HD format. Again these additions will not be available for the HD-DVD format.

Paramount is not doing this purely for marketing reasons, but for the fact that HD-DVD is not capable of holding all the content on one disc, and due to constraints, Paramount decided it would be best to not offer the content.

You guys are dumb! HD-DVD versions will use Dolby TrueHD and BDs will use PCM. Same stuff for both formats except one takes up more space then the other. -dad

I have said from the start More space is needed for everything especially games, now movies with the abilities for the movie companies could have 2 movies on one disk, or tv show seasons on 1 disk . Not only is it cheaper to purchase its cheaper to manufacture if it fits on one disk why not use that one, well its getting there.

To MrLeaf81. Yea you think it'd be smart to do two movies or entire tv seasons on one Blu-Ray. They'll NEVER do that if they can help it. I mean look at japanese anime un-touched by filthy english dubbing and anime touched by filthy english dubbing. i migh not have all the facts on why seeing as a 12eps download is like 2.25G un-dubbed. Maybe double the space for english dubbing...still one disc. FullMetal Alchmeist series 1-51 on 6 dics un-dubbed $35(eBay sale). then when american companies get a hold of anime it's 4episodes for $20-25.
