(continued from previous page) ...multiplayer.

Speaking of multiplayer, it feels just as satisfying and fun in Vegas as it was in past Rainbow Six titles. The cover mechanic adds a whole new perspective to Rainbow Six multiplayer gameplay, so newcomers won’t necessarily be dominated by series vets right away. The ability to unlock content over time and customize your online character adds to the replay value, not that you’ll need any other incentive to keep you playing. With a plethora of maps and modes, old and new, there is very little to complain about regarding Vegas’s multiplayer. That is, unless you have a slow internet connection, as matches can lag up as a result.

There were several changes between the 360 and PS3 versions; some positive, others negative. On the superior side of the spectrum, the delay provided time to fill the Blu-ray disc to the limit, as maps from the Red and Black 360 map packs ($10 each) are provided from the get-go for PS3 gamers. Also, there’s an option to control the snake-cam with the Sixaxis motion control, but that ability just feels tacked on and makes what should be an easy process difficult.

On the inferior side, the graphics in several areas are slightly substandard when compared to the 360 version. Texture work can seem especially shoddy in comparison, as can the detail on characters faces (or lack thereof). A slightly spotty framerate can aggravate as well, but that mostly occurs when playing splitscreen. Besides these minor flaws the game looks excellent. It must be mentioned though that there is a strange issue with 1080i output, as the game looks far crisper and better in a 720p resolution.

Audio is outstanding for nearly all aspects of the title, at least when it works properly. Gunshots sound sharp and authentic, explosions boom realistically and voice acting is top-notch. Unfortunately, audio glitches do occur, with gunshot volume improper in relation to the current area and position between Logan and the opposing terrorist. Essentially, even when they're right next to you, it can sometimes sound as if you're being shot at from over 50 feet away. It's actually quite disturbing and can mess up your sense of direction. This issue does detract from the otherwise solid audio Rainbow Six Vegas provides.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas is a fantastic foray into the tactical shooter genre. Both series pros and newcomers can appreciate what this game has to offer. It’s solid in nearly every area, but exceeds all expectations in the category that matters most: gameplay. If you missed this title the first time around, you should buy this game.

I have this game and this review is not good.... because; the graphics are not good even when playing in 720p only, the online laggs way too much, and there is a lot of static when trying to talk to other guys, this game has good potential but just would of been a lot better if there was great online play, good graphics, and if there were no laggs and mic static when playing online. i give it a 6.0

i taught this game was great (even if the campaign was a little short) and the multiplayer kept me playing for ages both online and offline. recommend it to anyone who likes shooters

they didn't mention the horrible flaws in multiplayer such as getting randomly exited to the xmb during a match, sometimes hearing a machine gun shooting forever and nobodies shooting it, and there is no server list, so you have to search for a random game of the gametype you choose, and sometimes you can't find a game, unless you have friends which fortunately you can invite them to your game or vise versa.

I love this game.. 9.5 from me - I dont see why sites keep on saying "graphical issues" - THERE ARE NONE. I really do not get it. The game is amazing graphically.. gives even Resistance a run for its money.

I give the game about a 7.1. It is fun. The campaign mode is quite challenging (in realistic mode) and is pretty well put together for the most part. Graphics are "ok" in campaign, PS2 quality in multiplayer. Jaggies ftl.

THe AI is hit and miss...big time. I was impressed (and extremely frustrated) on a number of occasions when being flanked very intelligently by the enemy. Then, not long after the flanking impressed me, I'd be disappointed with the 5 or 6 other enemies who would run out in the open immediately after their buddies were shot in the face right in front of them. I don't know if it is a balance issue, but it is something that has to be fixed.

WHEN you can get a solid group to play online, it is fun. HOwever, no lobby system detracts greatly from this game. Try starting a game, one person joins, waits, another joins, waits. After about 5 minutes, both will leave, only to have another two or three join and then leave again. I don't blame them, as it is frustrating to wait through the enormous loading times only to wait for a room to fill up. The lack of lobby system is atrocious. There is also lag/framerate drops that really stinks up multiplayer. Oh, be sure to use a USB mic or otherwise the sound quality is AWFUL.

Overall, it's a solid effort in comparison to what Ubisoft has been doing, but don't expect a GREAT game, b/c it just isn't here. Terrorist Hunt is the highlight for me.

Why do you people complain so much.If you have bought it keep it,cause it never hurts to have a large games collection.Especially since offline co-op is so rare this gen.

I was gased to get this game the first time it came out, but after playing the online mode and experiencing all those bugs i was pissed and they need to put a way to turn open mics on/off because they got some annoying people on that game.
