Red Faction: Armageddon deploys May 31

Have you ever gazed skyward, dreaming of visiting that glowing red orb in the sky? Well, get over it, you’re never going to Mars unless you’re Virgin billionare Sir Richard Branson (and, if you are, will you take us with you Mr. Branson?). On May 31, however, you’ll have the next best option: THQ’s Red Faction: Armageddon.

On their journey through Armageddon, players will travel from the core of Mars to its frozen poles — presumably bashing stuff with giant sledgehammers the entire time, if the previous Red Faction game is any indication. Developed by Volition, this new entry utilizes the "groundbreaking" Geo-Mod 2.0 destruction engine, featuring copius amounts of destructible environments and objects.

"Red Faction: Armageddon is an incredible new entry in this vaunted franchise, and Volition once again pushes the envelope of technology and science fiction," said Danny Bilson, executive vice president of THQ’s Core Games. "Come May 31, players can look forward to collapsing entire buildings on their enemies, using the world as their weapon."

Red Faction: Armageddon is scheduled to release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on May 31, 2011 in North America and June 3, 2011 in Europe.
