Reeves confident in European lead

It's David Reeves morning here on PSU. The outspoken Sony Europe boss has confirmed his absolute belief that the PlayStation 3 holds a commanding lead in PAL regions, but fell short of backing the claim up with any figures.
“In PAL territories we are ahead of Xbox 360,” he stated. “I am supremely confident of that statement. Sony would not let me say that if they hadn’t seen all the numbers… They would not let us say that. And we are absolutely, 100 percent confident of it.”
Microsoft has questioned this claim before, pointing towards similar month-on-month sales totals and a previous lead in the hardware install base, but little detail is known on the cumulative figures from either side.
If this is a 10-year war, you get the feeling Europe will be a crucial battleground this time around. For once, that can only be a good thing.

Hm. It would be very convienient (Spelling..) if we knew thee exact sales numbers of both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. I hope this means us Europeans will start getting some love back, i'm sick of getting average Store updates week after week.

Lead or no lead, they's better start treating Euro-costumers like gold. Only a matter of time before MS's excellet marketing team finds that weakness that is SCEE's missteps with the Euro market. They will jump all over it. I don't like the 360 anymore, but one thing MS is good at is exploiting weaknesses.

I completely agree with you. I purchased a 360 when they first came out, played GOW etc and it was good other than that it was a bit naff and TOO loud. Since then they have managed to gain some good ground on Sony in the console wars. I still believe Sony is ahead, but Microsoft is coming fast and has some very good things going for them. If Sony don't keep hold of their gold customers, they will eventually leave for a better service. Online is the future, and so far the Xbox seems to rule that. -

Europe should get the best and the first releases since the EU is the biggest economy in the world and growing even larger.

The PS3 is dominating in Europe. Wasn't this established months ago when the PS3 passed up the PS3 in European sales even after a 16 month head start the 360 had?
