Resistance 3 multiplayer detailed, beta coming later this year

Insomniac Games today revealed details about the new multiplayer components for Resistance 3. The goal with multiplayer, according to James Stevenson, senior community manager, Insomniac Games, is to highlight the best of Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2’s multiplayer and co-op modes.

The new player count for Resistance 3 is 16-player Human vs. Chimera for deathmatch and objective-based modes. The game’s multiplayer is said to feature a deep and customizable progression system that allows players to create their own path. Players can level tactical abilities like Doppelganger, which projects a duplicate image of yourself nearby, or Dash, which, as it sounds, gives you a short burst of speed. You can also level both personal and combat attributes.

Insomniac also announced that multiplayer beta for Resistance 3 will be available on the PlayStation Network later this year.
