Namco Bandai has confirmed that it will supplement Ridge Racer Vita’s lacklustre day-one track/car line-up with a series of downloadable content additions this winter.
Fans were understandably miffed when it emerged the portable racer would ship with only three courses and five motors, though it appears Namco is looking to remedy things in the near future.
According to Famitsu magazine, the deluge of DLC begins on December 22 with a free music pack, which offers past Ridge Racer tunes to enjoy while you burn rubber. More music will be released in the coming months.
The paid offerings begin on February 23 however, with at least one car (priced at 250 yen) and one course up for grabs (400 yen), with a further three cars and two tracks released in March.
After that, four vehicles and another three courses will appear in April and May, though prices have yet to be revealed.
Namco’s also planning some bundles too, with one pack featuring all DLC through May releasing on February 16 for 1,600 yen. What’s more, this pack will be discounted to 1,000 yen on February 29.
No word yet on U.S. or European pricing, but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop if we hear anything more.
Ridge Racer will be a launch title for PlayStation Vita on February 22 in the west.
