Rock Band pricing and release date revealed?

According to Joystiq, Harmonix has confirmed that Rock Band will be priced at $170 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and be released on November 23rd. The PS2 version, however, will be released for $160 on December 10th.

As you probably know, Rock Band is the title to go up against Activision's Guitar Hero III, but what makes Rock Band different is the expansion of accessories. Not only can gamers rock out on guitars, but now you'll be able to go heavy metal on the new drums and scream lyrics through mics as well.

Only the PS3 version will come with wireless accessories, whilst there will be a USB hub included with the Xbox 360 version to overcome the insufficient number of ports on the unit itself.

With Rock Band releasing on Black Friday, widely known as the god of shopping sprees, count on this title easily holding its own against Guitar Hero, in terms of sales and perhaps gameplay too. We'll let you know which one we prefer in our reviews closer to release.

The wireless accesories are a nice feature.  Another option the 360 shoulda had.

Thanks to bluetooth, which allows any 3rd party developer to use PS3 wins again when it comes to peripherals.

Meh.  I've been looking at some gameplay videos and Rock Band doesn't look all that exciting to me anymore.  Think I will look into Guitar Hero III this time around.

Thoughts on the game after playing in Las Vegas, Rock Band Tour:

Guitar: piano keys instead of protruding buttons, lip on strum, bottom 5 buttons are thin and useless.

Drums: fun to play, very difficult, responsive when they aren't broken.

    Bass: waaaaaay too easy.

Karaoke: if you've played karaoke revolution, you've played this instrument.

Ups: Playing was fun with three friends, great song lists, will have a lot of replay value.

Downs: On screen interface more like guitar freaks with a slim line note to hit which is much harder to see, and hammer on and off's are almost impossible to identify. If you have four people playing there is so much going on at once that it is hard to tell what you are doing, how you are doing, and how to "bring someone back to life".

Conclusion: I thought it was a lot of fun to play, but because of the guitar, I am much more looking forward to GH3.

I think this game is gonna be cool. I'll buy it because more stuff to do equals more opportunities.

Overpriced?  Considering an extra guitar retails for around $60 and the stand alone game being $60, you're basically paying $50 for drums and a mic.  Sounds like a steal to me...I was expecting a $250 price tag easy.

Its alot for equipment you might not uses often. Single player doesn't seem as good.

Seems weird that Harmonix is not behind Guitar Hero III.
