Rock Band set list revealed

Posted on October 27th, 2007 at 04:57 EDT

With Rock Band lagging a month behind Activision's Guitar Hero 3, Harmonix has released its set list in order to pump up the hype and possibly stir some sales from its main competitors.

The game will ship with 58 songs on the disc, 45 of which will be licensed, and the remaining 13 will be unlockable. Each of these songs can be played with up to four players, playing guitar, bass, drum, and microphone. Four player co-op, both online and off, is Rock Band's biggest perk in its uphill battle against one of gamings hottest series, Guitar Hero.

To fully utilize this, however, you must purchase a bundle for USD 169 (including one guitar, drum kit, and microphone), or strap on your Guitar Hero guitar and go online with buddies.

Guitar Hero launches with more songs than Rock Band, but the set list in Rock Band is more than enough to stand on its own, especially when you consider the fact that downloadable content will be offered on a weekly basis, with several packages already in the talks.

Such packages include a full album from The Who, a hot Metallica track, and several songs from The Greatful Dead.

But enough talk about the game, without further adieu, here is the confirmed set list as it stands, categorized by decade:

This song list isn't nearly as good as I'd hoped.  At least for my tastes.  I'm sure other's will love it.

lol cant believe how crappy the songs get in the 2000's. The music being put out just gets worse and worse. It basicly melts down into pop rock/emo, all crap!

The song list is actually quite awesome, I see more on this list that I'd like to here than I've seen on the GH3 list. Infact a lot of these songs are stuff I would have wanted to see on any of the 3 GH titles.

GH3 seems better for songs, like Rock Band has Metallica's "Enter Sandman". And GH3 has Metallica's "One". Which is a better song than enter sandman. I think GH3 is a little better overall with just guitar play.
