[UPDATED] PlayStation trophies to hit in June

UPDATE: Sony has updated the PixelJunk Eden website with an interesting game key feature, Trophy Support. Take a look for yourselves.
ORIGINAL STORY: According to our PS3forum industry insider, Sony will be releasing Firmware 2.4 sometime in June around the launch of Metal Gear Solid 4. Also mentioned is that the new Firmware 2.4 will include some of the first PlayStation Trophies. *Note that these will be the 2D trophies found on the XMB and not the 3D trophies coming in Home later this year.
"The SDK 2.40 will be available to dev. late in June. The actual Firmware 2.40 might see the light of day a lot sooner (my personal guess would be launch aligned or slightly before MGS4 )." - PS3Forum Insider
Further into the thread, they state that the Firmware 2.4 will also include improved Audio/Video communication, however don't get your hopes up that this is for in-game XMB. Since developers will receive their 2.4 debug units in June, expect only first party Sony titles to have trophies first.

Nice! Can't wait, it's gonna be a good addition that i've been waiting for and one thing that the X-box 360 has that I really like.

concerning Home, I don't understand why they can shuffle the closed beta a bit to allow others to mess with it for a bit. I'm really starting to loss interesting in Home all togeather. but I'm still downloading it this november though

hopefully if you already beat a game like resistance, you'll automatically get the trophy. i don't feel like beating all my games again just to get a trophy. but this a great idea, hopefully the info is correct and hopefully sony does as good of a job as microsoft had done with achievements

Hey everyone.Abit of info for most people.SONY said that they plan on using some kind of accomplishment sytem where by playing games will show you a trophy and a point systemfor their next console(PS3).Now this was way before the 360 was a rotten little apple in Microsofts eye.Then about six months later MS announce Xbox 360 then abit later the achievment system.So because MS rushed the 360 out there(the fatal flaw that will kill it)sony decided to hold off and redefine it.So it was in fact MS that copied the idea.

Accomplishments/achivements/trophies are one feature that I've been waiting for forever. I really loved acheivements on the XBOX 360 and it would be awesome to have support for acheivements on the PS3 as well.

am i the only one who thinks home is um....boring.....what exactly do you do besides "sims" stuff? I do not care to build a virtual "home" . I spend enough time doing things to my own home....and quite honestly, I dont care if anyone knows how good I am at a particular game....is there anything else to it? am I totally missing the point here? I prefer video chatting over talking to a "sim" also....

trophies eh? so when the ladies come over you can turn on your ps3 and show how much time you've spent playing video games and that your a virtual super stud ... then when your doing your thang with her you can yell "DMG +2!!! DMG+2!!!" lol.

I don't really care for trophies or accomplishments. They're nice ideas but I don't like the whole scandal of XBL Gamerscores coming to our side as well.

I don't consider myself a Trophy whore by any means (I never play a game ONLY for Trophies), but I've always been a completionist and if I like a game I'll definitely try to Platinum it. I'm always down to help anyone out if I can and if I have the time. You can check my games collection but I sub to GameFly so I get a new game every other week, so if anyone needs help or just advice on a Trophy feel free to ask. By web designer
