Rumor: New PSP God of War game on the way from Ready at Dawn

It looks like Ready at Dawn may break its promise to drop PSP development after all. According to Joystiq‘s "trusted source," Ready at Dawn may already be developing a new God of War game for Sony’s PlayStation Portable.

John Koller, SCEA director of hardware marketing, said earlier today that "some fairly major, triple-A titles are coming for the back half of the year that are going to be announced in the coming months and at E3.”

Could this be one of the AAA games Sony was referring to? It seems quite likely. Back in December 2008, Ready at Dawn stated that it was reconsidering PSP development.

"Two out of five top PSP games sold on Amazon in the U.S. last week were Ready At Dawn games with Daxter and Chains of Olympus both making the top five," a post on Ready at Dawn’s blog smugly notes. "Maybe we should reconsider this whole ‘no more PSP games’ thing because we seem to be pretty good at it."

According to the Joystiq’s source, Ready at Dawn returned its PSP development kits to Sony over the summer, but received new ones later in the year.

"You know that even if we were [making the game], I couldn’t [tell you]," said Ready at Dawn president and co-founder, Didier Malenfant.

If this new God of War game indeed exists, it’s likely that we’ll hear about at E3 09.
