According to an anonymous source that attended a Sony Computer Entertainment Staff Annual Briefing on Friday, SCEE’s David Reeves revealed that from March 2009 onwards, Sony will be getting more competitive in price.
Reeves explained that the PS3 has a larger install base than the Xbox 360 in PAL territories, and that with a price drop the install base gap will significantly increase in 2009. A predictable move by Sony would be to drop the price on all systems and release a Killzone 2 bundle when the game releases early next year. Also mentioned were new "technological innovations" coming to the PS3 and PSP, though no specific details were provided.
