According to MCV, successors to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are to be unveiled at this year’s E3 expo in June.
The site claims that both Sony and Microsoft are looking to lift the wraps off their next-generation consoles at the Los Angeles bash, potentially stealing much of the limelight from Nintendo’s Wii U, which will be out in full force.
Various sources in recent months have pointed to an E3 reveal for the new Xbox console, with a release supposedly due next year.
However, Sony has continually brushed off speculation regarding a new platform, though last year reports claimed that a number of first-party companies had begun working on PS4 software.
Sony has pledged to support PS3 for at least a decade, with the console turning five in the U.S. and Japan last November. It’s also focused on PlayStation Vita, which hit Japan last month and is due out in western regions on February 22.
