Rumor: Sledgehammer helping Infinity Ward on Modern Warfare 3

According to the chaps at the Los Angeles Times, the new Call of Duty title that developer Sledgehammer is currently chiselling away on is none other than Modern Warfare 3.

Apparently, publishing behemoth Activision has signed up the California-based studio to lend a hand in creating the shooter’s single-player campaign alongside franchise heavy weights, Infinity Ward.

Elsewhere, the article also claims that Raven Software will be responsible for crafting the game’s online multiplayer component. Indeed, this aligns neatly with previous reports of a job posting indicating the studio is busy cooking up something pertaining to "an established console-based, realistic, first-person military shooter."

As expected, Modern Warfare 3 is supposedly pencilled in for a November 2011 release, though little else is known on the project. Furthermore, it’s worth remembering that nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet, so treat this with a pinch of salt until we hear otherwise.
