SCEE responds to rumored GT5 car list

Remember that list of 10,000 car list of all cars that were set to be featured in Gran Turismo 5? Yeah, that was false. 1,000 cars? False as well. When speaking to semi-official Sony blog ThreeSpeech, SCEE clarified its position on these rumors.
“Despite news articles claiming that ‘SCEI/Polyphony Digital’ have made an official announcement with regards to GT5 featuring 1000 vehicles, we can confirm that this is pure speculation. It would appear that the list is a mixture of vehicles that were included in previous GT titles, coupled with somebody’s own fantasy garage.
Further details about GT5 will be announced in due course, but for the moment at least, we can confirm that the current car list/speculation, does not come from SCE.”
We all would have liked to see GT5 with thousands of cars, but it looks like it just isn't going to happen. The original source of the story has now also confirmed they were wrong - More details on Gran Turismo 5 when they're available.

aww that blows...it would b hot if it was thousands of cars..i hope they have the bugatti veyron in it as well as other supercars

given the car amount pattern: gt1=150 gt2=400 gt3=175 gt4=950 i doubt that we will get over 1000 cars in the first ps3 iteration.

While GT5 will undoubtedly be a sweet game, they dont have enough time to make that many cars with such detail. That said, once GT5 is out of they way, most of the leg work for GT6 will be layed, and wee will probably see a lot more cars. We will also see cars for download I am sure.

Was anyone REALLY expecting 10,000? Maybe if you could sculpt your own (DING GT6 idea). I didn't expect any more than 500 max.

Yeah mod check on Jose? Seriously dude grow up. I didn't believe 10,000 cars when I read it. I don't play the GT games but seriously... 10,000 cars? 1,000 is a lot imo to. Couple hundred would be a huge list, but I'm not an avid racer fan. I'm sure it will be quality regardless of the number based on what I've seen and read tho.

this is normal for this game where each car is drawn with much of detail this is why it is hard to draw 10,000 cars and even 1,000 cars so we will stick with the 350 cars announced from them!
