European PlayStation 3 owners have been asking for it for a long time, and this month their requests for a video service will finally be answered. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced a partial list of movies that will launch with the European PlayStation Network Video Delivery Service.
Some of the movies set for launch include:
• Bruno
• Angels & Demons
• Casino Royale
• Crank 2: High Voltage
• Hannah Montana: The Movie
• Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
• Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
• The Hills Have Eyes
• Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
The service is set to launch in November in the UK, France, Germany, and Spain, with other regions slated for 2010. Film studios that will take part in the service include 20th Century Fox, Disney-ABC-ESPN Television1, Lionsgate2, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Starz Media2, Universal, Warner Bros and several local studios.
The video service will offer PS3 and PSP owners a chance to download high quality movies, available to buy or rent. Details on pricing have yet to be announced.

I already have 8 of the 9 movies on my HD, dont really fancy Hannah Montana: The Movie. But i hope there will be a monthly charge instead of one item charge because if its anything like PSN prices then i wont be touching this service.

I'm not sure about this. Depending on the prices (especially for that "rent" option) this service can either be a blessing or totally useless.
Anybody know whether those movies will include multi-audio? I live in Germany, but I prefer to watch movies in English, so if I will be limited to German releases, I'll probably steer clear.

I'm wondering if these movie-companies will be releasing for SONYs video-store only or will they also deliver to M$, if not M$ will have a problem with their VoD service in Europe.
It's bad they don't include Scandinavia in the deal - we do have one distributor for the entire Nordic region, so they could strike some good deals quite easy, but we'll have to wait some more, estimated guess will be TGS 2010 or maybe gamescom 2010

@44 I thought I've seen enough bad geographic knowledge in people to last a lifetime until you said THAT :-p Read a book and find out exactly what Europe is comprised of. Trust me, it won't kill you.
I do feel for the Canadians that they wont get whatever America is receiving at the time. The language translation excuse is something us in Europe put up with enough, so it can't be that i.e translating it for french-speaking Quebec and other areas because America alone has a very large Spanish speaking population and delays there are virtually zero.
I'm hazarding an educated guess here but shouldn't the Oceanic community of Australia and New Zealand receive new content under SCEI perhaps, seeing how relatively close they are to Japan and the continent of Asia?

@45
It's called sarcasm.
It's pathetic that SCEE can only launch the service in only 4 EU countries. And that's practically always been the same for every service they launch in EU.
PS. Geography pop quiz :
I live in the country that provides the EU capital and word is that it might also provide the EU president. It's located in between the countries that are going to receive the new service. ie. North of France and Spain, west of Germany and east of UK.
In what video-service less country do I live?
