For almost a decade Neversoft and Activision have monopolized the skateboarding genre with their Tony Hawk series. they both look good but tony hawk looks better
its sounds that SKATE might be better but Hawk does have the create your own skate park. Both games look great but its a little hard to compare the visuals, only cause Hawk's pictures are more bleak and darker while SKATE's pictures are more sunny and brighter.
i agree with nightwing but yet u can see that tony hawks character details are much more out there then skate...but who knows maybe the lighting makes it seem otherwise
Environments- THPG Skater- Tie
The shots look like their both from the same game. This could prove to be interesting....
Both have great features going for them...THPG has the three types of skaters as well...the rigger (can modify the playing area to make more tricking options available) looks cool but SKATE seems more on the actual physics of skateboarding so the game should be more realistic (no 70 foot acid drops for example) probably gonna grab 'em both...
I'd have to say that SKATE looks better, and NightWing007 you are right lighting does make a difference....atleast to me it does. And by the way what is up with THPG,is it the skateboarding underworld or something?
the light looks way better in skate (atleast i second image) it´s so fu"%#ng pointless to even discuss this have you guys played it? didn´t think so
tony hawk wins again
Tony Hawk has been disappointing me for some time, and I think they'll both be rentals first and decide after that. THPG does look a little better thank SKATE. Hopefully they're both good.
psn id: gingo.... tony hawks certainly looks better but the stats for SKATE look good so i say it's split even and i will need to play a demo to really want to buy either
definatly Tonys wins
skate by far because i am sick of all kinds of stupid stuff and really it just looks like THPG is totally copying every thing that skate does like the video editor and pics so skate is a must have for everyone who wants to play a realistic game
I think I am gonna give Skate a try first....TH has alot of making up to do before I buy another in that series.
i dont like either of them.looks crap.hate skating
I think that if you wanna play a sport game that will simulate the action instead of just going out and learning how to skate and enjoy the real adreneline rush from the 20 foot gap, atleast i play video games for shooters and racing simulations and amaizing rpgs, you know why? because i cant go up to people in real life and rip them out of their car and cap them in the head while running over seniors walking innocently down the sidewalk....And i cant live in another dimension were physics are the same or go back and time and wield a Balrog Blade so keep playing your sport games that never change because sports unfortunitly have this thing called rules and regulations....
Tony Hawks looks better.
they both look awesome, TH's characters look more alive, where EA's look more posed- but EA's BG's are more gritty and real- they both are dope
i think that there almost a tie, but alot of people say lighting makes a difference and there right. The skaters look like from the same game but im not sure if you can compare the backgrounds because both of them have different themse going for them. Skate does sound like it does have pretty cool stuff with the 45 song soundtrack.. and with tony hawks having only 5 songs... skate has the ups on that one. I have been a tony hawk fan all the way back to the origional playstation so Skate will have to out do alot to take me away from that.
Honestly the tonyhawk series needs to die... been making expansion packs the past 40 50 games ... I will be buying skate if it comes down to one of these ... if skate gets bad reviews i probly wont get either... IMO Skate looks better to.. just look at the sky, plants, and textures... The best texture i see in tonyhawk is the bricks lmao...
i got it! thpg looks like thps4 while skate looks like american wasteland! oh, wait. thats gonna start an argument of some sort. well, sorry.
Smallvillefreak, I hope you know that the idea for the skate game has been out for a long time. Infact, the flick stick gameplay was announced before nail the trick!! Hmm, so all Tony Hawk had to do was rush in a game with a stolen, watered down versoin of it and hope people like you believe skate stole it! WOW, that sounds just like Project 8!! AMAZING!!!
I think that they are both completely different styles of skate games. If you are looking for a more realistic approach then skate is definately the way to go. You will also feel a lot more rewarded when you pull something awesome off while in Tony hawk you have the ability to do things no one could EVER possibly do. Both are great games but I'm definately leaning towards the realistic side. It's something new, unlike THPS which has only added a few features to its simple controls over the past 10 years.
skate rulessssssss
