Saw the videogame announced for PS3

A videogame adaptation of the popular Saw movie franchise has been revealed in trailer form at a Brash Entertainment press event this week.
The trailer, detailed by Jigsaw himself, described how all videogame journalists are wasting time in the videogame industry, thus deeming us unworthy to live.
The game is scheduled for an October 2009 release, which should be noted that is also the same month in which the final Saw movie, Saw VI will be released. The game is said to be a combination of all 6 Saw movie plotlines, as well as covering content not seen or detailed in the movies. Saw creators Leigh Whannell and James Wan are working closely with Brash to ensure that the title remains as close to the movies as possible.
Just think of it like The Matrix: Path of Neo where the game covered all 3 movies as well as a plethora of other content not covered by the movies.
The game will run on the Unreal III engine and will release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.
We will continue to follow this game all through development.

Never seen Saw before, but of the impressions I have heard, it sounds like a guy torturing people because of his insanity with no real plot in the story.... Can' wait to see how they make a game out of this :D Though I would never have thought it would be a fps? Or does the UR3 engine supports other game genres?

Hopefully this will be a great movie-to-game title, instead of some money grabber for the studio. Hopefully some online play will be implemented.

@Triple Dk there is a point to the story and you have new pieces of information in each film. I wouldn't call what he does to them torture. You really have to watch the films to get an idea of what he's all about. But they are gory and they get gorier. I've seen all four saw films after the second one they start to lose the plot a bit. Not for the faint hearted
I don't think I will be getting this game though. I never but movie-2-game games, because you've already seen whats going to happen in the movie, why play a game about it.

@gingo - definitely think this might end up being a manhunt type of publicity. I only did like the frist 2 Saw movies tbh so I am not really that excited for this, considering movie based games are really not that great, and those that are few and far in between.

No offense Triple Dk but you began your sentence with "Never seen saw before..." which basically discredits anything you say. If you HAD indeed watched the movies especially starting from the beginning, you would know that Saw is one of the few horror films that has released as a series in recent history that actually has a plot that is essential to the story line.

Oh great. Now we get to hear Jack Thompson run his mouth for almost 2 years about how this should be banned. I can only see another Manhunt-esque situation rearing its ugly head.

Saw VI the last? That's what they said about Saw III at Spike's Scream Awards last year. If they keep up the excellent story, I'm sure it could be going on for longer.

Saw 3 was never supposed to be the last film. Saw IV was greenlighted before Saw 3 was released, and Saw V and VI were greenlighted before Saw IV.
