Sega reveals Aliens: Colonial Marines details

SEGA has unveiled the first major details on its upcoming First Person Shooter (FPS), Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Based on the USD 577 million selling movie franchise, Colonial Marines features an original story conceived by acclaimed writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle, pitting gamers against an alien foe far more deadly than ever before.

The squad-based shooter will include a host of recognisable weaponry including the Pulse Rifle and Flamethrower, along with a plethora of new equipment and skills exclusive to the game.

Utilizing the power of next-generation consoles, Colonial Marines strives to retain the atmospheric feel of the films, featuring claustrophobic environments set in the abandoned Sulaco, in addition to unique locations designed specifically for the game, all accompanied by an appropriately foreboding soundtrack.

In addition to an immersive single player experience, gamers will also be able to team up together in the game’s four player cooperative mode, each one assuming a unique identity as a fellow United States Colonial Marine. More multiplayer details will be revealed in the coming months.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is scheduled for release on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in late 2008.

    Wow! I can't believe they would invest alot of energy in a mediocre selling game, when they could be out making a new generation of Aliens Vs Predator for the PS3 or Xbox 360. That game would be alot more better than this, you could play online with Predaliens, Queen Alien, other kinds of Predators and all sorts of stuff! It would be one of the best games ever made. Aliens games can't be successful without Predators, although the Predator game was awesome, BUT They have to make you be Marines!! Humans , whats the point of that. If you could be an alien and kill people that be better.

    psn id: gingo.... awww disappointed that its a squad based shooter - i really cant stand them but this is actually sounding rather good

    I have a feeling this will be a repeat of BlackSite.  Kind of like the feeling I got that BlackSite would be an epic failure.
