Foundation 9, a company of many development studios announced that they are to merge two of their teams into one mega studio, Shiny and The Collective.

The merger will allow both southern California based studios to put their minds together to bring about even bigger and more creative games as Foundation 9 suggest. To get things on the go, both Shiny and The Collective have relocated together to their new office in Irvine, California. Currently the name of the new merged company has not been revealed.

Shiny, founded in 1993, is perhaps best known for its work on the Earthworm Jim series, while The Collective, founded 1997, is currently hard at work on the latest instalment in Konami’s Silent Hill franchise for next-generation consoles.

"Bringing the Shiny and Collective teams together into one larger studio will give them the scale and resources needed to deliver top-notch franchise-based releases across multiple platforms," commented David Mann, F9E's COO.

"We've already moved everyone under one roof, which will help to make a seamless transition for both teams."

Michael “Saxs” Persson, currently Shiny’s studio manager and the head of the new team, added: "At this scale we now have the resources to truly distinguish ourselves as the go to developer for complete sku lines from next-gen to current gen and PSP”.

Again, the name for this new studio is still unknown; however, we can only speculate that this studio is going to pump out many top quality titles for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable platforms to further enhance your PlayStation gaming experience.

PSU will keep you updated on anything that comes from this new studio such as interviews, hands-on previews, and game reviews.

First time playing Silent Hill... That radio crackle still gives me the shivers. Survival Horror has really taken off since Silent Hill & Resident Evil. Anyone here play through Fatal Frame (Project Zero) series? - I recommend this as much as I do Silent Hill.
