Sony exec comments on PS3 Slim rumors

The rumor engine has been in full swing the past few weeks regarding alleged leaked photos of a PlayStation 3 Slim. Speculation suggested that it was a knock-off PS3, that a cheaper PS3 Slim would be announced at E3, or that the photos were completely fake altogether. John Koller, Sony’s director of hardware marketing, recently spoke to Ars Technica about the leak, and the coverage surrounding the "news."

“If [the coverage] focuses more on leaks or what may or may not happen then yes, there is a certain amount of frustration," voiced Koller. "I think we have a tremendous story to tell today, and I think the path that we’re trying to lead is much different than [the paths of] Microsoft or Nintendo. We view a little bit of a different future. Who’s going to get to the future first? I think that’s a more interesting story than ‘I found some packaging in China that may or may not…’ you know, personally I don’t see that as a story.”

Koller goes on to state, “I’d love to live in a world with fewer leaks and more meat.”

In this day of near instant information around the Web, we all know that leaks spread fast, but when there is “meat” we jump on it like a pack of hyenas. For now, the PS3 Slim remains a rumor.
