After the recent price drop, the announcement of the new 40GB system as well as the revamped advertising campaign, Sony's big holiday push seems to have paid off. The company announced yesterday the statistics for it's sales on Black Friday and all of their consoles experienced huge jumps in sales.

Sony Computer Entertainment of America revealed that overall PlayStation brand sales during the week including Black Friday increased by 178%, while sales dollars increased by 154%.

Sales of PS3 hardware increased by 245% compared to the same period last year. Since November 2, PS3 sales have increased by 298%, including the 80GB and new 40GB model.

Furthermore, the remainder of Sony’s consoles also saw a spike in sales, with the PSP Slim and Lite up by 136% compared to previous weeks, while PS2 sold 287% better than its previous week.

Specific statistics on the actual number of consoles sold on Black Friday were not released, however.
