Sony still aiming for 2008 launch for Home open beta

Sony has once again reiterated that PlayStation Home’s open beta will kick off this side of Christmas, adding that it is delighted with the level of third party support for the online social networking platform.
“Like we've said, we're excited about moving PlayStation Home into its open beta stage this year,” said Home Director Jack Buser, during an interview with IGN.com
“Once we make the move to open beta, everyone will have access to PlayStation Home.”
“PlayStation Home is nearing the final stages of our closed beta. Last week we successfully moved to our 1.0 client, which places us on schedule for the launch of open beta this year.”

Wow, Chinese Democracy is finally released and now we might get Home also! Maybe all those years waiting for a cure for cancer and AIDS might pay off also.

Hype still as high as ever :) (although i still think u should be able to see the gaming level of someone whilst in Home)

It's fizzled out like a soggy fire cracker...
It's a nice idea but I have a feeling I'll only use it when I'm ill and have nothing else to do. Time will tell. I'm still looking forward to the open beta though just to see what all the hype is really about.

@ 4...Chinese Democracy is an amazing album. Hopefully Home will live upto the hype. Can't wait to try it out.

i got a betakey on my japanese psn account, and it works fine on my european. not very much to do inside home at the moment though. do the robot or play chess.... will probably get a lot better with more ingame support and trophycurrency... at the moment it's rather lame.

Sounds like 80% of people enjoy Home even in its content-less state. No matter which message board I go to, naysayers are outnumbered and even then, many of the naysayers sound petty or worse (like fanboys). The naysayers that seem to make the most sense tend to be the older ones that can't see themselves actually socializing using the application, which is fair.

I think it's great! I got invited to Home and it's amazing. The only small problem is that there's a lot of long loading but other than that, It's still awesome. I can't wait for the open beta.

i think home is pretty much in open beta already. its not that hard to get a code or for someone to share it with you. all my friends have it now. you can game share it with more than 5 accounts so if you dont have it just ask around. ill trade someone street fighter 2 hd or mk 2 for a fresh code i have that hasnt been used yet.

I am a Annual Qore Subscriber before 10/29 and still didnt get my invite to the Home Beta. Almost everyone on my friends list got an invite by either Qore, Random Invite, and the Home theme. So yeah the Hype is gone.

I feel your pain #33. It's pretty pathetic that I would have to wait until Christmas to finally get to try Home even though I'm supposed to be receiving a Qore invite (being an early annual subscriber) which STILL hasn't been sent to my email yet. Also I downloaded that home theme day of. Fokkers.

I'm in the closed beta. Home has been fun so far. I have met a lot of good gamers and found new people to play games with. I guess Sony plan is already working, and that's just the closed beta. One you get into Home, then you know Home is going to be something the continues to grow and gets better with time.
