According to the Japanese website ITmedia, Sony Computer Entertainment has announced the addition of support for the YouTube API to the PS3 software development kit (SDK).

The functionality will allow uploads of user-created movies to YouTube from directly within a game, making the PS3 the first console to have official support from YouTube. This new feature should be supported across all SCE regions and is targeted at letting developers integrate YouTube uploading into their PS3 titles. The first such game to debut this new tech is the free Japanese title Mainichi Issho daily news and entertainment service.

YouTube support would allow for a limitless amount of easily accessible user-generated content. More on this exciting development soon.

Wow! Other than free online, this would be a good reason to buy a PS3. I've always wanted to make a montage to show off my awesome noob-powning skills, but i don't have a DVR. So now I can upload my gameplay directly from the game straight to Youtube. correct me if i'm wrong...

-would that mean for the games that are already released, the developers will need to integrate ithat in(through a patch or some sort?) before we can use it 'cuz developers need to integrate that into RFoM and CoD4!

psn id: gingo.... if developers really take advantage of this, this could be one step beyond what anyone else has done hopefully they learn quickly how to implemnet this and use it to really improve sports games and the like

Wont capturing a vid steam require more processing power? I guess they can do this on most games but the truly process intensive ones might neglect this feature.

Sounds cool. Xfire already made a move like this where you can record and upload videos from gameplay.. It would be cool to see PS3 do the same.

This will be cool, hopefully it will be integrated with GTA IV, i would love to post some of the things that I do in that game. The crashes, the killing, getting hit by cars. The PS3 is so cool. If all games do this, it will be awesome, there is so many things I would love to upload but dont have anything to record my gameplay. I love my PS3

This is pure awesomenes. Hope a lot of developers will use this feature. For other games, I'll use my own camera which I bought a coupe of weeks ago for this exact purpose.

A bunch of kids uploading more crap to the internet?!  Alright!

I have no problem with legit uploads but if every 9-year-old is going to upload kickflips from Skate 2, I think I'm going to avoid it.
