Sony plans on revealing its European plans for the PlayStation 3 Video Store at next week’s GamesCom, according to Angela Madronero, manager of the European PlayStation Store.
“We will be making an official announcement regarding our forthcoming Video Store, next week, at GamesCom,” said Madronero. You can expect the announcement to come during Sony’s press conference on Tuesday, August 18.
The U.S. video-on-demand service went live last year, and former SCEE boss David Reeves has said the service won’t come to Europe until 2009.

I live in the US but I am so happy to see this is finally happening. Europeans should also be able to buy as many episodes of CHUCK as they wish. :)

@25, things are not brought out at the same time due to several factors including language, laws, taxes, and ratings.
However the biggest reason is due to copyright restrictions, things like Vidzone have to work along with the music industry, PlayTV with TV networks, Video store with the film industry, when any company other than Sony is involved it gets very complex, and as a result takes time.

Meh, reather buy the physical media rather than this that is only limited to the PS3 and PSP. Apple sucks too because you can only watch the movie in iTunes the iPod and Apple TV.

for Canada and the rest of the world: the best chance you have is the european store. Usually european stuff is not as picky as US, so it doesn't matter if your IP address is from Canada, there's a big chance you can still buy everything you want from the European store
Vive la Revolucion!
