Visceral Games announced today that it will release a demo for Dante’s Inferno in December. The ‘Gates of Hell’ demo includes the first level, and will help show off Visceral Games’ adaptation of Dante’s Alighieri’s epic poem, The Divine Comedy.
In the demo you will be introduced to the main character, shown the game’s epic storyline, and highlight some of the intense action and combat. You can expect fast-paced hack-n-slash combat as you fend off waves of enemies before taking the ultimate battle against Death. After you take down Death, you’ll be armed with Death’s scythe, a powerful holy cross, and you’ll finally be ready to tear open the Gates of Hell. You’ll also get two cinematic movies in the demo.
“Our main goal from the start of this project has been to create a journey that will make gamers truly feel like they are going through hell,” said executive producer Jonathan Knight. “The demo will give everyone some insight into how we are treating the story and a taste of the gameplay. And with nine more circles of hell to explore once the game comes out in February, we are literally just scratching the surface.”
EA’s Dante’s Inferno is slated for release in North American beginning on February 9, 2010 and in Europe on February 12, 2010. It will be available on the PlayStation 3, PSP, and Xbox 360. The demo, due out next month, will be available on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Gameplay seems to be there, even if it shows itself to be a God of War clone. I'm more worried the graphics will look closer to PS2 than 3. Dark games tend to have less detailed textures because of the environment.

I was going to get this game anyway since I haven't even had a hack slash game since I bought my PS3. o.0
P.S. anybody have any recommendations for any except Devil May Cry 4 (I heard it sucked)

I really enjoyed the God of War 3 demo and some games magazines are saying Dante's Inferno is going to be better. The fighting system is meant to be more than just mashing buttons but time will tell. Will look forward to the demo and judge for myself.
I would recommend Ninja Gaiden Sigma to start you off as you can pick it up cheap Neoxthexone. If you dont like your games too difficult or challenging i would maybe leave it though. IT'S HARD!

@5 Devil May Cry 4 is a pretty stellar game apart from annoying platforming areas but if you havent got or played DMC3 then play DMC3 first as its significantly better, Dante is much better then the guy in DMC4, id give the game a solid 7.5 if i had to review it , reocommened it for fans of the series anyways :)

Good to know i want to play this but Im not buying since itll probably be really short although I am buying GOW3 even though I only expect 6-10 hour story out of it I love the GOW story and want to finish it but Dantes Inferno has your typical love story going on so I doudt it will come even close to the amazing story in the GOW franchise
and neoxthexone DMC4 is actually fairly decent im not a huge fan but its alot better than i thought it would be but personally id say Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 its got great gameplay (dont take my word for it just try the demo)

maybe the game might be good, but what I don't like is the design of the main character
the clothes doesn't look like a really brutal guy. It reminds me of the first Kratos sketches for God of war 1 that you see when you complete the game
for a guy who goes to h e l l itself, he doesn't looks evil enough for the task
