Square Enix opens doors to simultaneous release dates

How many times have you looked forward to a premiere JRPG only to find out that you were going to have to wait another year for them to bring it to North America or Europe? We’re guessing more times than you can count. Square Enix has evidently realized this issue and has taken notice of the growing gaming market outside of Japan that shows large interest in their releases.

SE President, Yoichi Wada, has stated that Square Enix will be making worldwide releases from this point forward. There is no confirmation if this will include Dragon Quest IX or Final Fantasy XIII, but we’re hoping it will. With the continuing success of both of those franchises, it would be a great day for gamers to finally have equality in release dates. We’re aware our European readers are always displeased with being given titles third in line.

According to Wada, SE is also thinking about opening studios up outside of Japan in order to make development for localization that much easier. They’ve also been considering allowing for over-seas developed games to be released as well.

If any news or confirmation comes out that relates this to FFXIII or DQIX, we’ll keep you informed.
